"I had a very disappointing experience today at Jim's Bagel Loft. I ordered a few bagels over the phone and when I went to pick them up, I paid with a $20 bill in perfect condition. However, the cashier gave me my change, which included a half-torn $5 bill. When I politely asked for a replacement bill (which they had available), she smiled and explained it might not last in my bag due to its condition, but then suddenly became hostile. She kept saying, "It's okay, I will go to the bank," repeatedly. At first, I didn’t want to make a scene with others waiting in line, but the conversation was loud enough for my young son to hear, so I responded by saying she probably should go to the bank, as I expected to be treated fairly. As a paying customer, I believe I deserve respect and to receive bills in at least decent condition. With many places moving away from cash, the likelihood is I won’t use that bill anytime soon, and it’ll probably get ruined. Despite enjoying their bagels, this awful experience means I won’t be returning."
