"Came here based on reviews and the fact that I always have driven past her. I ordered the hot chocolate and it was small but delicious! I order the chocolate chip pancakes and they were so gooey with chocolate and yummy. It tasted better with butter. My boyfriend got French toast and it was amazing. It was thick and tasted like a warm apple pie! The omelet was okay it needed a little something so we put salt to add some flavor and it was good. The toast was crunchy and buttery. The bacon was crispy and made the way I like it. The muffin was toasted and was different but in a good way! It was full of flavor. We had plenty of leftovers. We also order a chicken parm to go and it looks amazing. Staff was super nice and the bill was reasonable and was surprised it wasn’t more than I thought it would have been. I definitely would come here again! Delicious food and very filling. Update: came back again and as usual we were very delighted. The hot chocolate was good. Not crazy for the chocolate whipped cream but the hot cocoa was yummy. The side of bacon was crispy and flavorful. We ordered the Hawaiian pancake special and it was ok. It was a bit dry and probably could use a bit more coconut. My bf got the western omelet and it was very filling. The bagel and toast were nice and crispy. The toast was very buttery. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla. It was AMAZING! It was super cheesy, packed with flavor and protein. The sour cream and salsa made the dish even better. Once again the portions were huge and had left overs."

"A staple of the LA scene, Barney's has been around for quite a long time. The menu at one point in time was rather extensive, and printed like a newspaper. At this point in time, the menu has been paired way down. One would think this might afford the opportunity for exploring the recipes and improving them, but that doesn't seem to be happening. Take the Eggs Benedict. The Hollandaise is very thick, and although the flavour was okay, do we need another glop of seemingly canned sauce. The poached eggs had a rather strong taste of vinegar that overpowered most of the other flavors in the dish. I assume it was the water used for poaching that gave off the highly acidic tang. In contrast the chiliquilles, were very red. I always think of this dish as a good way to show some different textural play. The softness of the eggs paired with the crunch of the chips. In this version, the chips seem to be cooked in a ranchero sauce, rendering them soft and mushy. The eggs seem cooked seperately and then mixed in as almost an after thought. I won't comment on the beans and rice as they looked so unappealing that I didn't taste them. The coffee is strong, and reminds me of old diner coffee. I'm not sure what I mean here. Is it coffee that I remember from diners of of a bygone era that put hair on your chest? Is it coffee that has been sitting on the burner at a diner for 8 hours? Why, yes. Yes it is. On a positive note, the decor is kitschy and will keep you occupied, as you try to get your servers attention to ask for anything."

"After being seated by the hostess, I said thank you and received no response, only a look of, I don't wanna be here type vibe, like the whole world was irritating her. I ordered a side salad, and when the lady brought it out to me she had started to walk away and I had to tell her I needed a fork. She brings back the fork and starts to walk away again when I noticed I needed a napkin also. So she had to run back and get a napkin for me. There were no utensils, napkins, or sauces. I dnt understand why this stuff was not already on the table. While I'm eating my, I am barely halfway through the salad when they brought out my main meal which was a Hawaiian burger with no fries. I had assumed that burgers come with fries. Just because I ordered a side salad doesn't mean that I didn't want the fries also. That should have been clarified. When I got my fries, they were hot, but the texture was chewy instead of crispy. Its like they were sitting under the heating lamp and not made fresh. The burger was ok, maybe ease up on the amount of sauce being put on the burger. Overall, the energy of this place was soo drab and negative. This place wasn't even busy. My waitress was just nice enough and even though I gave some bad feedback, I still left a tip. I believe if the hostess didn't have such a negative snotty vibe about her, I think I could've been ok with everything else. First impressions are a must in my book. Be a little more cheerful when you're greeting guests next time, it will set the tone for a customer having a bad experience or a great enjoyable experience. Don't believe I will be back here."
