"Chow Daddy’s feels like a restaurant with immense potential that is currently lacking strong leadership. While the food options and menu are promising, the execution unfortunately falls short. Pros: - A variety of choices for different diets (burger, fried chicken, rice bowl, taco) - Easy to get a table - Reasonably priced - Flavorful food (details below) - Fun activities to pass the time while waiting (ping pong/pinball for just 75 cents per game) Cons: - Severely understaffed - The kitchen struggled to keep up with orders - Sides and starters were disappointingly small - Wait staff appeared disorganized - Meal took 50 minutes to arrive Now for some details on our meal: We ordered the Mexican corn, which came in a mere two tablespoons as a side. We loved the taste, so we ordered more! Then we tried the buttermilk cornbread, which arrived fried and unlisted as such on the menu—an unpleasant surprise. The fries were overly salted, but that might just be my preference. For our main courses, two of us opted for tacos, which were more like a kale salad wrapped in a tortilla with just a hint of meat. On a positive note, the sriracha sauce was fantastic. The other two ordered fried chicken sandwiches, which were decent with sauce and sweet pickles, but the fryer oil tasted old. The last dish ordered was a rice and fish bowl—the fish was good, but once again, the heavy use of kale didn’t hit the mark. Overall, we’ve seen this restaurant for years and have read plenty of positive reviews but always bypassed it. We finally decided to give it a try this year, curious about the hype, but it seems we waited too long. The charm is fading, and I sincerely hope they find their leadership soon!"
