"We have been twice in the last 2 weeks ... which describes how much we love Metro 8. The porcini mushroom noodles are my favorite along with steak and tuna. The vegetables are always so fresh and cooked perfectly. The salads are crispy and properly dressed and the wine list is huge and delicious. Perfect for dates, girls' nights or special occasions. Correctly priced for the top quality food you get. Better steaks than Angus Barn, better pasta than Maggianos and much cheaper. The terrace is our favorite dining space, but the tables inside are super romantic. We will no doubt be back soon. Great service, fantastic atmosphere, top bar and wine list and food in the region to celebrate small business ... all my favorite things! Parking is so much easier than downtown Durham and we love the taste of 9th Street. The desserts are fantastic and the coffee is delicious."

"Update: It seems they've streamlined their menu since my last visit. They now offer only four main dishes and have removed the crème brûlée from the dessert menu. Additionally, the wood-fired oven options are no longer available. The burger I ordered from the new menu was disappointing; both my partner and I found it overwhelmingly charred. He ordered his burger medium, initially thinking the taste came from the cheese he tried for the first time. However, after trying my burger, he realized we both had the same problem, and it wasn't the cheese. By the way, the duck fat fries also vary in flavor; sometimes they have a strong duck fat taste, while other times they just taste like regular fries, which is unfortunate. On the good days, they’re fantastic, but on off days, they just have a hint of duck fat. I’m not sure if they lost a chef or something, but I really miss the old menu. My partner had a burger at this place before that was much better than what we experienced recently, so I’m not sure what changed."

"My kids were at the Barclay Center for a concert and wanted to find a nice place for me and my wife to enjoy while waiting. Endswell is in a cute neighborhood in walking distance to Barclays in a lively fun area. The food was outstanding and I was surprised at how reasonable the prices were for New York. It was fairly loud with a lot of conversation in a relatively small restaurant but it fit the vibe of the neighborhood on a Friday night. The owner spoke to us personally and the waitresses even one not assigned to our table were gracious, friendly and expert."

"The atmosphere was good, the noise level was ok, the food was missing. The service was very good, nice waiters and reception! The sweetness of the sauces in our Mexican food was very different and not good! Even the salsa for the fries was more like spaghetti, how do you mess up something simple like salsa ??? We think the worst was the enchilada sauce, sweet sauce, cinnamon doesn't go with enchiladas, I don't care if it's California, it doesn't taste good, sorry !!!!!!"

"I've been here a couple of times but this time it was a little disappointing. The braesola starter which I love really saved up on the mushrooms. And they were plain old mushrooms, not the fabulous wild mushrooms they had in the past. I was amazed. The pasta specifically was salty and dry. The fried calamari and prawns were very salty too. The quality of the food that goes into the meals is really top notch. In their defense, we went there right after the holiday weekend and maybe it was a little different. It won't stop us from coming back in the hope that it was an anomaly rather than the norm."

"I had a great experience on a Friday evening. We were on the way to a show at the Barclay and popped in at random for a beer and some snacks. Good choice. The place was packed, They had a private party later in the evening that they were setting up for and they appeared to be a bit understaffed. The crew handled themselves with grace and the teamwork that I saw was flawless. The food was exactly what I needed. Smoked Trout devilled eggs that my wife is still talking about, chicken wing drumettes … – show"

"Dined early to beat the rush. Order rum and coke. Tasted off. Spouse and I are both rum drinkers. Told server. She insisted it was rum, just that their rum was different. Well I drink light and spouse drinks dark; the drink in question was neither and did not taste like rum at all. She did replace my drink and the whiskey sour was fine. Ordered Steak frites for dinner and asked for more butter. Fries were just plain skinny fries; no seasoning or anything special; practically covered the plate and were piping hot. The steak was small but tasty but hardly room temperature. Obviously the steaks sat waiting for the plain fries. Again requested additional butter for the bread, which was very crusty. 30 minutes later when another person was clearing our table he asked if alright to take the remaining bread. I said sure, I asked for butter to eat with it 30 minutes ago but it never arrived so I don't need the bread any more. I think something is lost in service consistency. The server takes your order but it is delivered by someone else and cleaned up by yet someone else. Our server only checked on us once to change out my drink which is when I asked for butter. The drink arrived but not the butter. Server did bring the bill but waited so long to come collect that we just left money on the table and departed. The pan seared scallops are fabulous but dinner was downhill from there."

"This restaurant offers a creative and spotless dining experience in a cozy setting, making you feel as if you're enjoying a wonderful meal in a friend's home. It's the best food we've had in the Hamptons (and we've tried many places). The chef and sous chef presented each dish personally at our table, and each course of the five-course menu was even better than the last. We can't wait to try the prix fixe menu in the next season, as it was worth every penny. Even our 12-year-old daughter loved it and can't wait to return. The attentive service may be because the next season tends to be quieter, but that only adds to what makes the experience so special."
