"Walking in to the restaurant, you get hit with the amazing smoked meats smell mixed with hickory. Walked in about 40 min after opening for lunch with family before the tea party museum. Place was loaded 20 min later. Have to admit, the server did not set a positive vibe. Asked about house special old fashioned, he didn’t know much about it, checked with bar, came back, so I ordered one. 6 minutes later, he returned and mentioned they don’t have that. So or drink order turned into 2 canned beers which took close to 15 min. We finally ordered 3 meat platter (burnt ends, ribs, turkey) with beans, cornbread, spicy slaw. Kids both fried chicken. After about 20 minutes, waiter comes back and apologizes as he didn’t submit our order properly, but just did. So we know the service was not on point. Let’s see what the food can do. Highlights were cornbread, slaw. Unfortunately, turkey dry, ends were mushy and not very flavorful, ribs were ok. Kids chicken was rubbery and hard to cut, but breading was good. Seems like it had perhaps been in a warmer too long. Verdict. Not a chance in hell of a repeat visit. Too many other places to explore. No manager checking on tables, so wasn’t really a chance to share feedback. Server needed more training, food needed more love."
