"Today, I placed a takeout order over the phone and informed the woman taking my order about my allergy. Everything seemed fine at that point. After I paid, the woman returned with my food and informed me that the chef requested that I no longer order from the restaurant. She explained that every time I place an order, he has to change his gloves, clean his cutting boards, and sanitize other utensils, and he doesn’t want to take responsibility for my safety.
I was taken aback by this. It was clear that they no longer wanted my business due to my allergy. Feeling insulted by this rude and unprofessional response, I asked for a refund. The woman at the register questioned my request, insisting there was nothing wrong with their customer service and that I didn't need a refund. After some back and forth, she finally agreed to get a manager.
The manager arrived after about five minutes and handled the situation professionally, giving me my refund. However, this experience was incredibly unprofessional, and no restaurant—especially a seafood one—should be unwilling to accommodate customers with allergies like mine."
