"I wish the co-owner would come by and see the loyal customers. I used to eat there four times a week, but it’s just not the same anymore. The special used to be seven dollars, and now it's eight, but they don’t serve my favorite daytime dish, Chill Relleno, which I can hardly spell today! The owner's daughter was in grade school when I first started going, and now she’s probably graduated from high school. El Patron serves great food. Next time you visit, be sure to try the dessert menu—it's the best Mexican restaurant I've encountered since leaving Mexico."

"This is probably the best place to go for lunch on the west side. You get free chips and salsa, and a drink included with the $8 lunch specials. There is a nice list of options for lunch, so you can have quite a delicious meal for $8 plus tip. The restaurant was clean, the food was good, and the service was good too. El Charro easily earned 5 stars."

"(NEWER UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM OG THIS SECTION)Our entire family has been eating here often since it first opened because of the great customer service care and decent priced food that was delicious. I have noticed some changes over the past few months that are now kind of discouraging us to come or order to go as we sometimes do. #1 I understand inflation (but that's why we came here frequently), but the prices are creeping up a bunch slowly not as easy for a family of 5 to do as often. Now we only come when kids eat free (but they still aren't fully charging free like they use too drinks are $4 alone and you sometimes have to be persistent or ask to even get a refill (depends on waiter at that time) most the time we have no issues with others that are normal waiters. One weekend, our ticket was still $60 for 5, and 2 kids on kids eat free day. I feel like someone is intentionally overcharging to pocket or something bc that can't be right. #2 They used to be so friendly, but most newer servers make you feel like a hassle or seem put out if they have to do any extra and aren't as friendly and personal anymore. I hope you all work on this because we would rather come here than any other local Mexican food restaurant.#3 I feel like the cooks are not.all following the menu or cooking the same across the board. We used to get plenty of meat or seafood, and now its less for more money, and sometimes the same dishes we order taste different or they shorten the amount of meat to the dish. It's even funny at times. I really hope you all work on these minor issues because we we definitely want to continue coming but money is tight and we like consistency, good prices, friendly environment, the hometown atmosphere it use to.have on every visit, as we really enjoy Cancun!UPDATE February 2024: Service from staff has gotten MUCH BETTER, and we have had no issues after coming back numerous times almost every weekend when it's sports season time! Kid-friendliness: Kids meal options available, current kids' meals are FREE on Saturday!"

"I went there the other night and ordered takeout. I have been to this restaurant a few times and dined in, but this time I was too tired. It cost me about $30 for my fiancée and me. The staff is always friendly and accommodating, and they gave us plenty of food for our takeout order. The food was delicious as usual! I highly recommend this place; the service is much better than Sergio's on the other side of the city."

"We stopped by for dinner last night after being unable to get a table at Fonda next door. We opted to sit outside on the patio, which was lovely and equipped with heaters to keep us warm. I ordered a house margarita, and it was really good—not overly sweet like some can be. I chose the chicken Tinga tostada, a cheese quesadilla, and some rice and beans. I appreciate that they offer small plates, allowing you to sample a few different dishes. My friend had the tostada and a fish taco, while my brother ordered the prawn and steak dish. We all enjoyed our meals and had no complaints, as the food came out pretty quickly after we ordered. I did take off one star due to the service, however. It took a long time to get the bill after we finished, which was a bit frustrating. Overall, it's a charming place, and we really enjoyed our time there. I would definitely return, but just be prepared for a bit of a wait when it comes to ordering or settling the bill."

"Been coming here every month or so for a few years. Past 3 visits have been bad, real bad. Never see the owner anymore, wait staff is completely different. Maybe new owners. Drinks are worse, chips n salsa worse, orders wrong or missing. But to top it, I know inflation is here. But $3.50 for a soda/lemonade.
