BUT, it is a *very typical Chinese-American restaurant*: very sweet, oily, too much sauces to fit American flavor. I won’t suggest to go there if you are looking for something authentic: better cook by yourself. Don’t order the 葱油饼 green onion pancake: it’s deep fried and not the Chinese way of making it at all. 空心菜is fine."

"Holy Moly! I consider myself to be an extremely picky eater. I find it very difficult to find tasty food. If you haven't eaten here- YOU MUST TRY IT. When my bf said that Nan Zhou makes their own noodles, I was like, *rolling eyes* I'm sure that's a stretch. He wasn't lying. When I went to the bathroom, you could hear, between the walls that they were beating the noodle dough. I was impressed. Our food finally came, I ordered the spicy beef noodle soup-OMG, I DIE! The soup wasn't super spicy but it had nice kick to it. I could have easily added more sriracha. The broth tasted like it was made from beef bone broth, the noodles were soft and pillowy, and the steamed dumplings were super. Can't wait for my next trip to Nan Zhou!"

"This restaurant proudly displays A-grade from the department of health. This is great as anything below a B, is a sign that I will not be dining or getting take out from any restaurant. Even if its a favorite spot.We had a table of 6 tonight, keep in mind this pkace can seat about 40ppl at any time but it does get crowded during the dinne rush. We arrived at 6pm and we order a few dishes:3 cup chicken, supposed to be a signature dish. Chunks of tender chicken braised in a sauce with soices and basil. Tasty, sauce was a bit oily, definitely need rice for this dish.The braised short rib was tasty but the sauce tasted a bit burnt, seems like the spices were toasted a bit more than usual. Came with a brown sauce that had a savory layer of flavors.Squid and veggies, small platter perfectly sautéed squid with just the right touch of seasoning.Fried chicken strips, crunchy, not much taste and nk sauce?? Wouldn't order it again.My brother in-law order fried intestines, i didnt try it but he orders it all the time, apparently he thought it was just OK.The oyster pancake was soggy, had very little food and the little bit of filling was just in the middle of the pancake. Certainly not something i would order again. The pancake it aelf was very gummy like, the sauce not balanced more sweet and runny.Service was very quick but server forgot to send the tofu platter, jn the end we just asked that it be removed from the final bill since they forgot. I order a beer, unfortunately beer came out warm, restaurant was getting busy and so i just went with it. Overall a decent meal but not a olace that i would come back just because i crave Taiwanese. Remember this place is cash only, bo credit.Parking was not difficult for a Sunday evening.Wife took pictures of the food, overall i was not impressed. Keep in mind platters are very small. They are great if you have 2 or 3 ppl, but when you have table of 7, if an items is very good, most likely you will have to order a secondary plate.The server, gave us a complimentary platter of steamed cabbage, which was an additional vegetable to the other vegetables platter we had order. Dinner for 7, $145 plus 20% tip."

"My husband and I had a late lunch yesterday at this wonderful restaurant. The space is open and has a beautiful ambiance! We ordered marinated mushrooms, a vegan wine selection, soup, and vegan dumplings. We appreciated the ordering system where you simply check off the items you want, which we thought was a fun touch. The menu had a great variety of vegan options that were clearly labeled. Our server suggested we share our dishes, which we usually do anyway, so that was nice. Overall, our meal was delicious and reasonably priced. This is an updated review from December 6, 2022."

"I recently dined at Journey to the Dumpling with my family, and while there were some high points, the experience fell a bit short of our expectations. The dumplings were fresh, with a good variety of options, but the flavors felt less authentic than we were hoping for. Overall, we left feeling a little unsatisfied. We ordered the Peking Spare Ribs, which were crispy and served in large pieces—almost too big—and unfortunately lacked the tangy punch we expected. The Eggplant with Fish had an overpowering vinegar flavor that overwhelmed the dish, making it hard to enjoy. The XLB (Pork Soup Dumplings) had a slightly thicker skin and not much soup inside, but on the positive side, they didn’t stick together or tear when picked up. The Char Siu Baos had a nice, fluffy top, but the flavor was missing the sweetness balance that usually makes this dish a favorite. Our server, Henry, was nice and attentive, which was a bright spot in the experience. The ambiance was pleasant, but the wait times for both seating and food were longer than anticipated. While there were some decent moments, the overall lack of authenticity in the flavors left us feeling it wasn’t quite worth the trip."

Family business and a tight crew.Try the stinky tofu (best in the bay! , beef noodle soup, sausage fried rice is my wife’s favorite, fried spare ribs, string beans, three cup chicken. Also check out the breakfast menu egg crepe and soy milk.They speak Cantonese mandarin and English. Check it out! "Unfortunately, there s a lot more bad things I could say about this place than good things. The food seems to be a little hit or miss. The Szechuan cold noodles aren't very tasty and the texture isn't great. The hard boiled egg is sitting on a bed of what I think is supposed to be a braised pork but smells fermented. And the most criminal of all is the rice. I'm not sure if I got the bottom of the rice cooker or if they just didn't cook the rice well, but it was really clumpy and stuck together. I came at 12.There are some good things though. The mapo tofu is pretty good. Most of the vegetables are also decent."

"The food is unfortunately some of the best Chinese food in the area. I say unfortunate because it is the worst run restaurant in the area as well. It is pure chaos. There are No systems or protocols in place you walk in and its a free for all with management hiding behind a glass reception desk. If you are picking up takeout or trying to give your name or pay your check its all located in the same 5 foot area. No one engages you and you have to figure out the logistics to get your action executed upon. The customers are super aggressive since there is no orderly process. Its a shame as they know on a Sunday night what to expect yet the management doesn't care enough to change and institute some procedures to arrange an orderly flow. Too aggravating to enjoy the decent food!!! Oh and check your bill as different charges for same dish ordered. More process deficiencies."
