"Date: 9/3/2016 Time: 8:45 PM 66° Partly cloudy JK Brickhouse is not opened on Saturdays, but two of my friends Vanessa and Alfonso organized the 3rd Annual Meet Greet at this sports bar and grill for the evening. Our group had the place to ourselves. There were a few other patrons outside of our party group. It was all good. They just wanted to join in on the fun. I wasn 't too sure what to expect out of this sports bar, which is located in West Oakland. My husband and I usually don 't go out in the evening and party till about 1AM. We leave that type of thing to the younger folks. I can 't hang with the night owls and then soar like eagles in the morning, as in getting up at 6 AM and start heading out the door for more activities. This old giddy-up can no longer giddy up like I used to...lol. JK Brickhouse is a large one room venue excluding restroom facilities , which has two pool tables, a few flat screen TV 's, small dance floor, platform area for karaoke singing, DJ spinning mainly R B hits and several bar stools, tables and chairs spreaded around the room. The bar is tended by two bartenders. Female bartender was very nice and patient with me. I am a teetotaler and I seldom drink alcoholic beverages, except for the sissy drinks aka the fruity stuff aka the rudy-pute drinks. I first asked for a Kahlua and cream. They don 't serve that. I love pina coladas, but no blended drinks. I don 't even drink wine. This is pretty bad, standing at the bar, not knowing what else is there. I finally asked her to fix me a drink with pineapple and orange juices and add some ginger ale. She even put some grenadine syrup into the mixture. It looked like a virgin Tequila sunrise. The drink cost me $2.00, but I was so embarrassed taking up the bartender 's time that I just gave her $5.00 and told her to keep the change. DJ Zo was friendly and he knew how to work the crowd with hits. I didn 't even ask him to play JB 's Gonna Have a Funky Good Time, but he threw it up there on the turntable. That 's my jam and it 's a beeline to the dance floor to party and have a funky good time. I don 't think I put the hurt on anybody when I was doing my thing, except myself. Yep, I tired myself out and had to sit for a little while. I can 't carry a tune, but the people who were doing the karaoke singing, including my friend, Vanessa, were amazing. Some brutha was doing Teddy P turn off the lights and light a candle... and had us women screaming like we were at some live concert. Even the guy singing Just in case by Jaheim had me rockin ' in my seat. All I can say is, who cares where JK Brickhouse is and that the venue is not fancy schmancy? The music, the karaoke singing and the DJ provide the entertainment and it really does not matter the location when I am having a great time with my family mi familia, mi hermanos and mi hermanas and friends."
