"Our group of 16 dined at Earl's, Port Coquitlam, this evening. Not many restaurants will take a reservation that large on a Saturday night so good on them. The service was friendly and very good, two servers taking drink and dinner orders and others topping up water glasses through the meal. Despite our large numbers, the wait for our meals was reasonable. The noise level made it difficult to carry on a conversation, unfortunately. I ordered the grilled chicken, brie and fig sandwich with roasted apple slices on a ciabatta bun and a bowl of clam chowder. Sounds good, doesn't it? Sadly, the bun and the chicken were very tough. I ended up discarding the bun and eating the filling but it was hard to cut the chicken. It would have been much nicer between two pieces of fresh, homemade white bread, not toasted. I ate some of the clam chowder but it was not really very good. In their favour, most of the friends sitting around me reported that their meals were very good. My meal came to just over $20 with tip for the good service."
