"I loved this restaurant. I haven't had sushi this fresh in a long while. I like to think of myself as a sushi epicure, I loved the sushi and the Nagri. It was perfect. With the exception of the Nashville role, which I didn't like because the sauce overpowered the taste of the sushi. I would have given the restaurant five stars, but the only reason I gave it for stars was because the service was not the best. Our server was not rude or impolite – which is why I didn't give the restaurant three stars but rather four- but it wasn't the best experience. She asked us if we wanted the check while we were still eating. She removed some of the sauces from the table without asking us if we still wanted the sauces. She didn't offer any dessert and when we asked her about it, she told us about two varieties. She forgot to tell us about Mochi ice-cream. We only knew about it because we saw a picture that someone had posted on yelp. She didn't tell us we can mix different flavors (get two pieces from each flavor), again, we knew this from the yelp review. I don't usually judge a restaurant by the server, but I do judge it by the service. Another reason why I'm giving four stars and not three is that the owner gave us a bigger table when we asked for it (we were only two people) when we walked in. So the bottom line is excellent food, fresh sushi, nice restaurant owner but servers definitely need to make the guests feel welcome. This is not the final verdict. I'll be coming again for more."

"where I start for this 5 star rating. the food itself would have come very close to a 5 but it was the hospitable ruthie offered us, which puts it over the top! She treated us like a family from the moment when she came out of the kitchen, especially our son, the extra special attention to him by preparing fresh juices to try. to do one of their personal favorites, she says. he had the left and sorrel, and both were so refreshing and different from everything we ever had. the sit-down menu is a very scaled version of the to go and that is just because ruthie wants to make sure that they are completley satisfied with their dining room experience and so dishes that last longer and only served for taking. without it being anything they are waiting for. we didn't try as much as we could. our baby boy had the huh fatucini alfredo (not pictured because he started too fast, lol .not traditional caribbean, but it was delicious! one of the ladies in the kitchen even came out to make sure that he liked everything that went into the pasta dish..A service! my man ordered the spicy jerk, with the red beans and rice, and mac and bee (again picture not possible lol . I had the ochsen, plantains (most of them before I could and roasted vegetables. we shared a dal puri (that it was filled with divided heapses, then fritted. yum! and lens soup too. in addition, ruthie treated us rehearsals of rucksprimps (my favorite and pumpkin soup with salt fishing). she also served us some extra spicy sauces that my man could not get enough. he loves a good heat. everything burst taste and all the meat was so tender! all in all we spent almost 2 hours there, but not because it took that long to come. it was the wonderful atmosphere that ruthie had created with her charming personality and talks with the people around us who held us there. we'll be back soon. thanks ruthie!"

"Not too shabby! The Common is a new spot that recently opened up in UCity. Nice to see this part of town is turning up with options other than chain restaurants. It 's located right on Market St. near most of the universities and nearby free street parking was plentiful for my 8 o 'clock dinner reservation. Walking in, it 's pretty big with an open concept main dining space lined by small tables on the perimeter and larger tables in the middle. There 's also a a second floor loft space to boot. I can see it as a chill happy hour/dinner spot. For dinner the menu is a fusion of New American and elevated bar food. There 's something for everyone essentially and I think that 's the idea they 're going for a melting pot of dishes inspired by different cultures the place thereby becomes the common denominator amongst its patrons. I ordered their eggplant dish served on a bed of turmeric rice! The flavor profile on the rice was great! The eggplant was a little too chewy for my liking and the treatment of it left a metallic taste in my mouth. Overall the service was great. Our water glasses were refilled plenty and we were checked in on plenty of times. Wouldn 't mind coming back here but hoping they put more vegetarian friendly meals on the menu. I will say the menu looked seasonal so holding out hope, it wasn 't bad price wise either (around $30 for dinner and 1 drink with tip included. Check it out!"
