"PLEASE Do youreself a favor and GO HERE!!! This place is beyond fantastic, priding itself as one of the oldest Bolivian restaurants in the DMV area! Such an iconic location. If you are in DC, you need to come here and try this restaurant out. Staff and customer service are so friendly, I met a lady named Mimi there who I think is the owner and she provided me such welcoming hospitality. I felt important and cared for as a customer when I went in here. I proudly support! I came here for the Salteñas and this place did not dissapoint. One of the best salteñas I've had in my life. Here is what I ordered and my thoughts on them: 1) Chicken Salteña So delicious. Everything in here was perfect and well seasoned. My partner ate this and he said it was a little too much on the sweet side, by overall, it's delicious. It's an explosion in my mouth with so may different flavors. I just recommend that they keep their salteñas on a thick side, not too soupy or else the liquid will drip everywhere. 2) Beef Salteña Just as wonderfully delicious! Definitely recommend! Overall, I am in love with their salteñas. I'm definitely coming here to try more bolivian food because I'm such a fan of Bolivian cuisine. "We came hungry and left very happy. (That 's the motto for some other place but it applies here. This was my friend 's first time trying Venezuelan food. She ordered an arepa with caprese cheese and a mamey shake. I ordered a fish bowl with plantains and a cachapa con queso y frijoles. Never in my life has a pancake tasted so good. It was so savory and the cheese especially is delicious. My friend agreed that their beans are seasoned very well. All their food is very flavorful. What I especially loved was the customer service. When the waitress first came over, she said Even if this is your first time trying Venezuelan food, you 've already tried pretty much everything on the menu. She then gave the names of comparable Mexican and Latin dishes. Their sauce is available for sale. It was so good, we bought the regular and spicy one. Note: In-person dining is back and I 'm so glad. It was such a lovely day. Outdoor seating is also available too."

"So yes unfortunately I hate to bearer of bad news but the previous reviewer was correct. I was going to order for my daughters birthday so I ordered a few things for us on Grubhub for weekend brunch . There's is definitely problem with their water. Most of their items taste like open water left in a dirty refrigerator. I ordered a Dominican cake :it had no frosting on it or flavor fruit inside the taste was okay. Their pan de agua was off. The café cubano had that bad water taste at the end . I order a guava and cheese pastry . The crust was not flakey but hard and as soon as I bit in it fully I got the dirty refrigerator taste again, the cheese was hard as well definitely not fresh. And I got a stomach ache shortly after that first bite Only things that seemed fresh was a coco piña cake and a cheesy bread. There are way better bakeries in Washington Heights."

"We stopped by Jalapeño King after leaving an overpriced food truck nearby—$7 for a taco is just outrageous! We’re so glad we discovered this place. The food is authentic, and it’s a family-run business. Everything we tried—the tacos, tostadas, burritos, rice and beans, chips and guacamole—was absolutely perfect. I can’t even begin to describe how incredible and spicy their salsas are! We’re new to the area, but we’ll definitely be making this our go-to spot for dining!"

"The food here was AMAZING! So flavorful, and juicy. I've never been to Venezuela pero I'm sure this is as authentic as it gets. We got some pabellón and beef arepas and all of the ingredients went so well together. The cornmeal that the arepas are made with have a slight sweetness that would make them delicious all on their own! We also tried the pabellón criollo and everything was made to perfection. I'd would highly recommend visiting this spot and staying awhile to enjoy the flavors. Definitely coming back, and on top of it all the people were so kind! Thank you"

"I placed an order through DoorDash, when the food got here one of the orders did not have the main part of the dish which is the Steak! I immediately called the restaurant and advised that one of the orders was missing the main part of the dish which again was the meat. The lady I spoke to on the phone advised me that they were going to resend me the order through Uber East, from afar I hear the other lady saying that they will have to pay for that out of pocket and the lady on the reassured her that she knew and she was going to pay for it. 2 hours late I'm still here waiting for it to be delivered so I called the restaurant, a lady picks up the phone and I let her know that I'm still waiting for the meat. She then tells me that she has called DoorDash and advised that the whole order was delivered. When I questioned her as to why she would lie to DoorDash she then tells me that two other employees were supervising the orders...so in other words I'm a liar. Why would I call and question why the meat was not delivered? Bec careful ordering from this place. They promise things and don't comply and then after make you feel like you're in the wrong and delusional. NEVER AGAIN!"

"Had an amazing experience today at Are-Pitas. Food was amazing the portions were above and beyond. I had soup on Sunday which was so very delicious. Today I tried the Pabellon and I was amazed. The empanadas are spectacular made fresh. Today I ordered 2 of each to take home for dinner. My lunch was spectacular. The environment was pleasant and restroom was clean. "The food is good, but the service is incredibly slow. I waited 35 minutes for a patelito and a smoothie that I ordered. There was only one person ahead of me, yet I still had to wait a long time. This was at 10 PM on a Monday. To make matters worse, they even gave me the wrong flavor of patelito. I don't understand why it takes so long to prepare just a patelito and a smoothie. The staff didn't seem to care that they were working so slowly."

"I personally think this place should be called Empanada Pueblo instead because wowww weeeeee were the empanadas excellent!! The arepas were nice but the empanadas were exceptional. The perfect dough, fried perfectly, incredible filling seasoned delightfully. We only got the ground beef and the shredded beef so we are excited to go back and try all the empanada flavors. The 2 table sauces were nice accompaniments. Salad was a great size for sharing for 2 people. Cool spot, we'll be back!!!"

"Unfortunately experience was extremely disappointing. We made a reservation 4 days in advanced for a party of 7 to celebrate my father in law’s 60th birthday and asked if we needed to prepay the plate we wanted to order for all as it is customary with some plates at this establishment. Their response was “no, don’t worry not necessary at all as that particular plate is always in stock”. We arrive order drinks and appetizers and when the time comes to order the main course the server approached the table and says “ I am sorry but the plate you want to order is not available as we ran out…..” This is extremely upsetting and unacceptable. That’s the main reason why we precisely called in the reservation and made sure the restaurant knew what we were ordering as a main course to avoid any issues. It ruined the celebration completely as we all had the mindset on that plate. Very unprofessional to be honest. Worse part of the owners were not there at the time and the manager didn’t even approach our table, just told the server “tell them we don’t have it and that’s it, if they want to leave that’s ok…” Unbelievable… To top it all off, when we decided to order something different, the actual plates didn’t even come at the same time so we could share a meal as a family. Between the 1st plate and the last one almost 20 min went by. Extremely disappointing overall to be honest. It’s a shame because when the owners were just starting and they were on top of everything day and night, it was all so different."

"Autana is a bit of a hidden gem located just across from the Ardmore station. BYOB. Fantastically fresh and flavorful food. The tartare criollo was an absolute flavor bomb, the tuna and salmon were so fresh and blended perfectly with avocado, herbs, veggies, and tostones on the side. We enjoyed everything we ordered especially the empanaditas, salmon, pabellon criollo, and cachapas. The coffees (loved the Bombon! and desserts did not disappoint. Service was attentive and provided lots of suggestions that were helpful. Absolutely a must try!
