"Review of The Fed Restaurant, Clarkston, MI The Fed, nestled in the heart of Clarkston, is a dining establishment that intertwines history and contemporary ambiance. One cannot help but admire the charm of the retained original vault, which adds a distinctive touch to the restaurant 's aesthetic. This vintage element coupled with the modern décor crafts an inviting atmosphere, promising a memorable experience for diners. However, a restaurant is not solely about its ambiance; it 's the culmination of service, food, and atmosphere. On this front, there were areas where The Fed faltered during our visit. Service, often the backbone of a dining experience, left much to be desired. Despite being first-timers eager to explore their offerings, our waitress checked on us a mere two times. Such infrequent attention does leave patrons, especially those new to the establishment, feeling somewhat neglected. The culinary journey was a mixed bag. On one hand, the shrimp alfredo was presented well, but the accompanying bread was a letdown. Burnt not once, but twice, it detracted from the overall enjoyment of the dish. This oversight raises concerns about the consistency in the kitchen. The salmon, though decently prepared, was overshadowed by sauces that didn 't quite hit the mark on flavor. Further attention to detail was needed in the upkeep of the establishment itself. In a setting that markets itself as more upscale in the Clarkston dining scene, burnt-out light bulbs in multiple fixtures seemed out of place. Such a simple oversight can influence the overall perception of the venue. Considering the price point of $125 for our meal, the expectations were naturally elevated. While The Fed offers an intriguing atmosphere and shows potential, the dining experience was inconsistent. A little more attention to detail, both in service and culinary execution, would go a long way in elevating the establishment to its perceived stature. Would we return? Perhaps, in hopes of a more consistent experience. But for now, The Fed left us with mixed feelings."

"I went here to eat on Friday and again last night because I was craving it! I went in a group of four on Friday and the service was awesome and food was delicious. We told our server that we were in a bit of a rush and he was very receptive of this and made sure he was timely with everything and we really appreciated this. He was so kind and happily refilled our chips and salsa three times LOL. When I went last night, the service was a lot slower and this was surprising to me given how great it was the first time I went. I did not have the same server when I went last night, but there was one occurrence where my server from Friday night brought us something when he had noticed that we needed something. I'm assuming that the server we had last night was just not as attentive as the one that we had on Friday. It was not very busy either so we were confused why it was so slow last night. Service speed aside, our server was still very kind! The food has consistently been fantastic. The first time I went, I got the Enchiladas Verdes and last night I ordered La Preferida (which I liked even more than the Verdes). My boyfriend and I also ordered a quesadilla as an appetizer to share and that was also good! The portions are so generous that I never have room for dessert or anything else afterwards haha. I had leftovers both times I went and each time the leftovers were enough for an entire extra meal. On top of this, the prices are relatively low. I honestly thought that the meals would be much smaller just going off of the price, but this is not the case whatsoever. You get a lot more than you expect, so come hungry! The atmosphere is comfy and laid-back. There is a bar inside and some TVs which I generally like. It's also very spacious. Overall, this is a place I'd be happy to come back to!"

"We have been to this restaurant numerous times over the last five years but probably at least six months since our last. The place was less than half full and we seated ourselves as indicated by the sign in the front. The ambiance is good as other times as I recall. One of the waiters came by promptly to see what we wanted to drink. She brought us some fresh chips and salsa which was good as always. However, I never recall the chips to be so flaky that they break when I tried to spoon salsa into it. They tasted good but the salsa was a little less spicy than I remember. I asked for an order of guacamole which took quite a bit of time to be served. However, it seemed to have been freshly made with a lot less salt and spicy as I was expecting in the past. I am okay with less salt but a little spice would have been nice either in the salsa or the guacamole. So, that was a bit disappointing. We had to wait for a while to order the entrees as the waiter (switched from the waitress) did not show up what seemed to be a long time. The waiter did not take away the plates we used for the appetizers and I had to prompt them twice to do it. We ordered shrimp fajitas, a beef and a chicken enchilada and a combination plate of chicken enchilada and taco. The shrimp fajitas tasted fine but the waiter took a long pause before brining out the tortillas that went with it. The beef and chicken enchiladas were nice, warm and tasted well. However, the beef and chicken inside the enchiladas tasted way more dry than it should’ve been. The combination plate was nice and warm as well but the tortilla in it seemed to fall apart as picked it up. We finished up ordering a flan that we shared. This turned out to be totally disappointing as it tasted way watered down. It was not what it should have tasted like. Overall, my impression was that they must have changed the cook as the food was much inferior in quality as I remembered from my past trips. Starting from the appetizer to the entrees to the desert, all was a bit under par. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service; I don’t know what the issue was but the waiter was not doing the job. He made us unnecessarily wait at every step including when I was paying. I resorted to going to the front to pay! I recall that I like this restaurant a lot but they really went down in food quality and service. Is that because there is new staff or owner; who knows. I may visit them again in four to six months again to check if things have improved. Stay tuned!"
