"My wife and I recently visited the Samudra restaurant in Jackson Heights with high hopes for an enjoyable dining experience. Unfortunately, our visit turned out to be a complete letdown, leaving us frustrated and dissatisfied. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were promptly seated but immediately noticed a lack of attentiveness from the staff. We placed our food order and were made to wait for nearly an hour, with no indication as to why our order was taking so long. When we inquired about the delay, the elderly man who appeared to be the owner brushed us off with empty promises, repeatedly claiming that our food would be ready in just 5 minutes. It became evident that his reassurances were far from the truth. The complete lack of customer service skills exhibited by the owner was disheartening. Despite our clear frustration and inconvenience, he seemed indifferent and uninterested in resolving the issue. As paying customers, we expected a basic level of courtesy and concern, but it was sorely lacking in this establishment. Furthermore, the overall cleanliness of the restaurant left much to be desired. The untidy appearance of the premises was off-putting, suggesting a lack of attention to hygiene and cleanliness standards. This only served to further diminish our confidence in the establishment 's ability to provide a satisfactory dining experience. Given the extended wait time, the owner 's dismissive attitude, and the uncleanliness of the restaurant, we ultimately decided to leave without even receiving our food. It was an incredibly disappointing experience, and we left feeling frustrated and let down. In conclusion, I cannot recommend the Samudra restaurant in Jackson Heights based on our unfortunate experience. The significant wait time, the owner 's lack of customer service skills, and the overall uncleanliness of the restaurant were all major drawbacks. Hopefully, the management takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements to provide a better dining experience for future customers."

"This a completely vegetarian Indian restaurant ironicly right next to a meat shop and deli. My husband and I live two hours from Woodlands but it 's more than worth the travel and gas. The food is like magic and we moan with pleasure and grin like idiots while eating. The Kofta, which are spiced potato 'meatballs ' in a tomato curry sauce sprinkled with fresh parsley and cilantro, are so marvelous the English language suddenly seems clumsy and incompetent and falls hopelessly short. The samosas are applause worthy, they are potatoes, peas, coriander, and turmeric in a deep fried triangular pastry served with chili-tamarind sauce. The coconut rice is over priced but still very hard not to get and we 're always trying to figure out what the little balls in it are. They don 't taste like peppercorns but they are about that size, whatever they are they 're good. The waiter seems deeply depressed and never smiles but is not rude. The restaurant is relatively small and cute and always has lovely Indian music playing. The menu is a very good size and the portions are generous but not ridiculous. Even the fried food is never greasy and you always feel good when you leave. It 's mostly Indian people eating here so that tells me it 's probably pretty authentic cooking. It 's not vegan friendly, there 's only about two dishes without dairy but that is what Indian food is known for. I introduced my husband to this place and he 'd never tried Indian food before, but now this is where he demands to be brought every year for his birthday. Even my four year old loves it! Can 't say enough good things about this place. It had better always stay in business."

"Fancy names, bad quality customer service.I don’t give 1 star to any restaurants with my reviews, but if possible I give 0 stars for the pathetic food, how the owner handles the customers, and complaints. We had food at this place many years back and we decided to drive far to try again. I wish I could have seen the reviews and ratings on google before ordering the food.We ordered Chirala Chilli Mushroom, Ganguly Gobi Vepudu, Mokkajonna 65 (Baby Corn), and Guntur Mirapakai Bajji (Mirchi Bajji). Mushroom chili was OK (we finished it), Baby Corn was the worst and we did not even eat one bite, Gobi Vepudu was equally bad, and Mirapakai Bajji they put a ton of peanuts, it was more peanut chat vs Bajji. We did not eat Baby Corn and asked them to threw it out at the restaurant, and Gobi Vepudu, Mirchi Bajji we put in the trash at home. When I told the person serving the food about the quality taste of the food, he brought the chef (I am sure, she is not a skilled chef) and she has no response except listening to our complaintLater the owner came, explaining the main chef was busy with something else and another lady prepared the food. The owner said they had to replace the fryer, the setting may not be calibrated for proper frying, etc. Customers don't care if the main chef is busy or if you got a piece of new equipment that is not calibrated. After acknowledging all the issues on their side, the owner even charged me for the Baby Corn which we did not eat a bit , and left it at the restaurant in front of her.It was funny, while all this was going on, another pick-up customer came to tell the food he took (some pannier stuff) was so bad, he demanded his money back and the owner had to give it.The restaurant business is all about keeping the customers happy by serving quality food and good service, if they can't manage both.. better they close the business.Stay away from this place."
