"We visited this restaurant based on a recommendation from a Peruvian friend, who considers it his favorite spot in the DMV area. Overall, we had a pleasant dining experience. The pisco sour was quite good, especially during happy hour when it’s only $7 instead of $12, although the portion is small (the liquor only fills about a quarter of the glass). The lomo saltado was excellent, and the classic ceviche was delicious, although it could use a bit more citrus flavor. The house salad was a generous portion. However, the calamari with three sauces was disappointing; it was overcooked and had a thick batter. Despite this, we plan to return, but we’ll be more cautious about our food choices next time."

"I am a big fan of Peruvian cuisine and I have high standards when it comes to food. This restaurant has consistently maintained not only delicious flavors in their dishes but also exceptional customer service over the past year and a half. I have tried almost everything on the menu and have enjoyed every dish. The desserts are also delicious. I highly recommend trying the algarrobina, even without alcohol it was amazing. Whether you live in the area or are just visiting, I strongly suggest giving this place a try. They now offer delivery as well. I usually don't write reviews, but this place truly stands out. The food has always been great and the customer service is top-notch. Well done, Danny Pain, you have created a fantastic restaurant. I hope more people are able to experience it soon. "The hostess could use some additional training in customer service. We made a reservation, and upon our arrival, she informed us that there would be a 10-minute wait, which was perfectly fine. However, she appeared somewhat annoyed—perhaps she was having a rough day. We decided to sit outside, but after sitting there for 10 to 15 minutes without any service, we asked the hostess if we could move inside. Without hesitation, she said no because our table inside had already been given away. While I understand the situation, there was no effort on her part to resolve it—no offering to see what could be done or suggesting that we could sit at the bar. It felt like there was no effort at all! There were only two of us, and the restaurant came highly recommended, especially since Mexican cuisine is one of my favorites. Unfortunately, we ended up leaving and dining at another local restaurant."

I really liked the speed with which they prepared our food, there was no loud music so I liked that, the food feels fresh and during the day the bathroom was clean and the managers were attentive. "The food at this restaurant is delicious. My party of three recently visited for dinner, but we encountered a frustrating situation. Despite the website and online hours stating that the restaurant is open until 8pm, we arrived around 7pm to find the dining room closed for eating in. Despite seeing other diners still being served, we were told we could only order for takeout. We were unable to do so as we were working late and had no other option but to dine in. Unfortunately, we were turned away and had to go eat elsewhere. It is important for the restaurant to update their online hours to avoid inconveniencing customers who make the effort to visit."

"The Ranchero burritos and salsa here are incredible—some of the best I've ever had! I was just passing through for work, but I will definitely stop by again. You won't regret it. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was exactly what you would expect from a Mexican restaurant, but I can't stop raving about the food. I even bought a large container of salsa to take home. I've never asked for salsa at other restaurants before, but this one was absolutely worth it!"

"I came in with my wife not knowing what to expect. When our food arrived, the aroma was incredible. I looked at my Mexican wife, pointed at my plate, and exclaimed, "THIS IS LIKE MOM'S COOKING, NOT THE DISHES YOU MAKE!" She was taken aback, clearly offended by my comment. However, after taking a bite, she nodded in agreement, acknowledging that I was right. Tony's is fine but can't compare in terms of authenticity. HORTENCIAS is a letdown, unfortunately. On the other hand, El Pajaro Azul in Blue Jay comes in second to Carnaval. I've seen some complaints here about poor customer service. As someone who works in customer service myself, I know that we all have our off days, and sometimes customers can be really difficult. But I personally had excellent service, even being checked on by the owner to ensure everything was satisfactory. After living here for two years, I regret waiting so long to try Carnaval. My wife and I are big fans, and our four-month-old stopped crying the moment he smelled the food. We truly love this place! Respectfully, Leo B."

"Oscar and his TEAM did a fabulous job on a pop-up meeting we had at my company. I called Oscar and he didn't hesitate taking care of us. This isn't the best part, however the individual container presentation was amazing, for our top-level clients, it was very, very impressive. The favor of the food and the condiments were spot on... the food was beyond great for takeout. Oscar and his TEAM, brought in and set up all the orders, and his attention to details, well that was off the charts. Plus, he actually spoke with us before he left ensuring we were happy with everything. THAT is 110% customer service. "Service was good, food came out quickly, and it’s a cool little spot. That said, the food was pretty bland. I got the carnitas burrito and the meat was pretty dry seemingly braised in water with minimal seasoning. The burrito comes with rice and pico, but anything else is extra and they were really light handed with the cheese that I paid extra for. The chips salsa were decent, but the 1oz cup of guac for $3 extra was not even close to worth it even if it was the most flavorful part of the meal.Overall, I think it’s ok, but a bit overpriced for what you get and I wasn’t impressed with the food at all. Might try the tacos but I’ll probably steer clear of any entrees there that have braised meat."

"I had a great experience at El Burro. The service was excellent, the decor by local artists was lovely, and the food, which was mostly vegan/vegetarian, was well-prepared. I visited the restaurant while vacationing in the area and found it to be a good option for my whole family, including both vegans and carnivores. The burritos, tapas-style tacos, and taco salads were all delicious, especially the flying saucer with vegan chorizo and avocado salad. The bill for our party of 4 came to about $40 with tip, which was very reasonable considering the large portions. The flying saucer was the perfect size for a hungry vegan like myself, and the various salsa options added extra flavor to the meal. Overall, I highly recommend El Burro for a satisfying and enjoyable dining experience."

"If you're passing through town, I would recommend avoiding this restaurant. The ground beef tasted old and undercooked, and the customer service was poor and racially insensitive. When we first arrived, our waiter struggled with communication, and the manager was quite confrontational when I expressed my intention not to pay for the meal. However, I did decide to leave a tip, despite being dissatisfied from the moment I entered the place. Though I usually support small businesses, this one left much to be desired. The exterior appears uninviting, and I suspect there may be several code violations, especially considering the damaged roof. The refried beans tasted like they came straight from a can, the rice seemed pre-cooked, and the ground beef resembled something you might find at Taco Bell—definitely not FDA-approved quality."

"This charming little Mexican restaurant offers delicious food at affordable prices. My family of six thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. While chips and salsa aren’t complimentary, they are only $1 for a basket. The ambiance is lovely, with soothing Mexican music playing in the background. "This is a good option to know about if you're in the area and need to grab a quick bite to eat. Anything can be made with vegan cheese, and the prices aren't bad. It's just Daiya, so it's nothing fancy, but it's still pretty rare. I definitely recommend the quesadillas."
