"Really wish this place was in my area!! This is the kind of place that would thrive in Collegeville! I mean, it’s only an hour drive, but I’d legit be there all the time if I were nearer. Right off the bat, beautiful restaurant interior, especially the stunning bar. Bright and cheerful without being overbearing or passé. Modern and yet somehow cozy. Loved it! The chairs at the tables... hello, something very unexpected: you think you’re going to sit on a simple wood chair, but your butt is greeted with soft leather cushion! Nice touch. Followed by terrific service, with a kind and patient server and support crew. Love that, especially! We tried a bunch of offerings: Malanga Chips Tzaziki :4/5 Cheese Curds: 4/5 (They arrived a few minutes after their fry, meaning the jam soaked a bit more into the cues and the cheese hardened faster than one would like but that’s nitpicking— otherwise, delish) Chicken Parm 5/5 Bucatini pasta accompanied the Chx Parm 5/5 The restaurant really kept the customer’s satisfaction in mind and allow us to sub out of red sauce for the pasta and try the fontina cream sauce. They basically gave us a side pasta of another dish the White Bolognese, which was so gracious. And even more delicious! Chicken Skewers 5/5 Plain Tots 5/5 Zesty Cucumbers 4/5 (a bit salty) Vegetable Lasagne 4/5 The Shelby Burger with fries 100/5! (By far one of the best burgers I’ve had, ever... and that’s serious. I love thin patties because it gets those crispy ends when cooking on the flattop grill— I was in heaven. As was my hubby, who’s nickname growing up was “Burgers”. Really, this was the highlight of the whole shebang) Cucumber Gimlet 4/5 Coffee martini?? Can’t remember the name 5/5 We really enjoyed ourselves. The husband hasn’t shut up about the burger and it was MY meal! Please consider expanding south. We need places like you to make our lives better. Tired of national chain restaurants that suck. Shelllbbby!!"

"This place really helped me adjust. I later learned that people gravitate towards certain bars, and I found my favorites, especially those with live music like Birchmere, Black Cat, 9:30 Club, Lincoln, Capital One Arena, and even the now-closed O'Shaughnessy's and Rock & Roll Hotel. One of my most memorable experiences was running into Rory Sheridan on one of my first visits. He was launching his DC music campaign back then and was part of Loud Boyz. We chatted a few times, and I even caught up with some old classmates. Another highlight was when I heard about a “reunion” night before Thanksgiving, and I decided to crash it. There were moments where people could be unkind or I felt out of place, but I was given some guidance on where I would fit in better, without the unnecessary drama. Being in Old Town, I was familiar with nearby schools like West Potomac, Mount Vernon, and Bishop Ireton. During my visits, I would often take an Alexandria cab or use Metro Access, being discreet about my disability since I felt embarrassed at times. Being a regular meant navigating the tourist scene, and there were people who seemed territorial about the place, but I ended up doing quite well when I sold my house. Good times continued with events like watching RG3 play for the Redskins or meetups organized by JT. I enjoyed New Year’s celebrations and weekend outings. I also frequented other establishments like Flying Fish before it closed, and O'Shaughnessy's before I decided to stop drinking. This is a sports bar located near a bicycle shop, close to the Ben & Jerry's I used to work at, along with many other walkable bars for bar hopping, like Union Street Pub and Fish Market. It can be a great place to have fun, but with the good comes some downsides. Overall, I felt well-hosted and respected here, despite some things I was not initially aware of or didn’t want to uncover."

"If I 'm being honest, the food was just ok. The rotisserie chicken with house rub was dry. They put way too much smoky flavoring into their collard greens. I 've never had collard greens in that way before and it was overbearing and annoying. It already had bacon in it. Why fix what ain 't broke? as the saying goes. The grits was outstanding, however, as usual. The (unsweetened) kiwi strawberry tea is just okay. It has a nice fragrance but don 't expect much extra in the way of flavor. The service was really nice and they clearly cared about our experience. Our server, Jordan, did everything right and was very helpful! The kitchen also agreed to an extra side of sliced cucumber for us to dip into the hummus appetizer. The hummus appetizer was fresh and delicious with lots of garlic. The duck empanadas appetizer was fine but considering how unhealthy it probably is, it wasn 't worth it. It tasted a lot like a Doritos Locos chalupa from Taco Bell , surprisingly! The atmosphere is great, though I 'm not sure why they were playing hardcore screaming rock at one point hahaha. It was a funny juxtaposition. I think the most impressive thing about this place is how consistent their service is even when they 're clearly very busy. We had no wait at all and great service. Also their menu is very diverse and I like that. Just maybe don 't get the white meat chicken. Opt for dark meat wherever possible."
