"This place is half hibachi grill, half sushi bar. My review is solely of the sushi side, which has been a fantastic experience each time. I promise I'll try the hibachi side... next time. It was pretty busy when we arrived, and most were families for the hibachi side. The hostess was also our server so she was really working the whole floor and doing so with a pleasant energy smile (you could easily tell, even under her mask). After selecting multiple items from multiple menus, while still contemplating the ramifications of ordering more, a gentleman stopped by with our drinks. Nigori and Sapporo, party started! I think we were the most lively table in there, but it is a nice atmosphere... even without us there. We laughed joked with the staff, and then our house salads arrived, gifting the other diners with a few moments of silence while we chewed moaned like cattle grazing. Next time, I will order two house salads for myself. Appetizers for the evening included the Monkey Ball, an absolute go to favorite. So. Good. We also got fried Goyza, chicken yakitori, shrimp yakitori. All were amazing...pro tip; don't neglect the sauce that drips off the yakitori hangs out on the plate. ?We finished off with the Sunset roll, which was good...kinda vanilla. The Texas Ranger Roll came to bat though knocked it out of the park. Round the bases, and bring it home! Damn, that's a good roll. Little spice, lots of flavor.A great dining experience, made even better when our server brought us a farewell shot each of Nigori, which cements my opinion of her awesomeness. Great time, every time here at Masu."

"Local Asian food that used to be my favorite place for take out. I don’t know what happened but last 3 times the food did not taste good. Maybe it’s a new chef but the food is not prepared well. Even the fried rice tastes different and the salad dressing is watered down. So disappointing."

"One of my top 5 sushi spots. Are there better sushi places that are cheaper? I dont know, I'm still looking! Does this one work? Absolutely!<br/ <br/ My first experience with Kani House was the hibachi. In regards to that, its pretty good. I'm not a HUGE fan of hibachi, but its fun, good, and filling. What more can you want from it?<br/ <br/ Now the real creme de le creme is the sushi. The sushi, I have found, is constantly good quality. I've tried many rolls and found some I dont really like, and some that I do.<br/ <br/ HOWEVER! The main thing that I love about Kani House, is the staff. Be it the cute girls in kimonos up front, or the sushi chefs at the sushi bar. My first experience at the sushi bar was with a date one late evening this is when I met Yi. Yi is one of the main chefs, maybe even the head sushi chef... no clue.<br/ <br/ Yi is an awesome guy. If you go to the sushi bar and at least talk and goof off with the guys behind it, they will take care of you. Yi and I have a friendship that is probably one of the closest that I have had with an employee in a restaurant. If i come in and sit at a table and he sees me, he'll send out some freebies for my table! <br/ <br/ Definitely check out Kani House. The sushi can be kind of expensive compared to some, but its good! And the experience is an enjoyable one, unless your antisocial and dont mumble a word and just hand your written order to the waitress."

"This was my first visit to the restaurant, and I was really impressed! The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. I ordered the tonkatsu bento box along with some sashimi, and everything was delicious. If you're looking for a great spot to unwind while enjoying Japanese cuisine, I highly recommend this place. They also offer boba tea, and I noticed many customers coming in and out with their drinks. Taro boba tea seemed to be a popular choice. I plan to go back tomorrow for some boba tea myself. I definitely suggest trying the bento box to sample a variety of dishes. Just a heads-up: parking can be challenging to find, and if you do locate a spot, be prepared to pay for it."

"While a mandatory 10% tip added to the bill would have made sense (since you can tip more if the service is good), the automatic 18% tip felt excessive, especially since the service beyond the waitress was minimal and the prices were high. Additionally, the lobster tails were the smallest I've ever encountered, making them not worth the money. Overall, I regret coming here and don’t plan to return. Maybe it was just the time of year, but I doubt it. Given how much I paid, I don’t want to risk trying again. Also, if you pay with two different cards or a card and cash, they apply the mandatory tip twice, which can end up being around 30%."

"The space is very small, but it worked well for us; however, we did have to take our youngest out. Everyone else enjoyed their meals. My 10-year-old son absolutely loves the chicken fried rice, and the portions are generous. The others ordered various rolls, and I tried the rainbow roll, which was also good. "I simply cannot rate Sushi Ya Garden City highly enough. We live in Delaware and it is our favorite sushi place because nothing in Delaware measures up. Kelly and Eric the owners are fantastic, and everything they make is devine. The quality and selection of sushi and sashimi is outstanding. The little touches like fresh wasabi (as opposed to the usual little green ball) are excellent. The pineapple fried rice served in a half pineapple shell are to die for. Hibachi is available. Simply in ambiance, service, and quality there is simply no place that is better. Give yourself a treat and spend some time here.Parking: There is a lot behind the restaurant."

"I had a fantastic dining experience at this restaurant. As a visitor from Tennessee, I chose this establishment because it was relatively quiet—actually, at one point, I was the only customer, which made me a bit apprehensive. However, I’m really glad I decided to go in! I ordered sushi, specifically the Dragon roll, and it was absolutely delicious. I also had some fried rice and soup. Just a heads up: these dishes aren’t part of a combo meal, so you’ll need to order them separately; however, the portion of rice was quite generous. I could have eaten it all, but I knew I would regret it at the gym the next day, so I left half of it. I highly recommend this place. The waitress was friendly and provided prompt service, which made it an excellent experience as a newcomer. Thank you!"

"I'm not sure who is writing these positive reviews, but this is definitely the last time I’ll be dining here. I really want to enjoy this place since it’s so conveniently located, but every time I come, the food is either mediocre or stale, and it’s always overpriced. The Chinese dishes are consistently just okay at best. The yellowtail sushi was rubbery, looked gray, and had a strong fishy taste. I’m not a picky eater, but I had to throw several pieces away because they were inedible. The spicy salmon roll was mostly cucumber. If I wanted a cucumber roll, I would have ordered one, but I didn’t because they’re not filling. The crispy noodles were stale, and the soup tasted old. There’s nothing worse than coming home after a long day with an empty fridge, spending a lot on takeout, and only being able to eat a couple of bites. It’s disappointing, but for decent Chinese food or sushi, you really need to head to Kingston or New Paltz."

"My go-to spot for bento! Love their options, the food is always great and consistent, and the price is very reasonable. I usually go with tempura, teriyaki chicken and a spicy yellowtail roll. I also get the salmon kama sometimes. Very sweet Asian family that runs it and has been for years. Tonight when I went to pick up my food they unfortunately had a very rude customer that came in. She tried to pay them with a bag full of pennies and when they asked her to please pay with a card she started yelling and cussing at them. They asked her a couple more times and she continued to yell at them. When they asked her to leave she kept cussing and said you don 't tell me to get out followed by more cussing and name calling directed at them. Sad to see people treat their elders like that, especially when you walk into their place of business. Extremely disrespectful. She eventually left, cussing at them the entire way. I caught most of it on video. Going to definitely try to eat there even more now and continue to support their small business."
