"This restaurant is fantastic—it's undoubtedly the best Chinese takeout in the area, and possibly in the entire capital region. While it's a bit more expensive, the quality justifies the price; you can truly taste the difference. Their food is authentic, not the artificial, MSG-laden, frozen tasting kind. There really isn't anything comparable around here. I urge everyone to give it a try; I want it to succeed! Be sure to sample any chicken dish—you'll notice and appreciate the difference. The chicken is freshly sliced, just like you would make at home!"

"Great location, only two miles away from Stanford Campus. The food was unique, innovative and delicious! The prices were a bit high, the service was great and the atmosphere was pleasant. We ordered: 3*Mango Lemonade: good, a bit sweet for me. 4*Black Pepper Mussels-salt-spring mussels with black pepper glaze: different than any mussels I have ever had. The black pepper sauce was too much at first, but quickly became addictive. Excellent if you like spicy food. 5*Roti Prata: crispy flatbread with yellow curry dip, a perfect combination. Must order bread for anyone. Soft and delicious! 3*Green Bean Sambal: Al dente blue lake beans with spicy sambal sauce, not that spicy. 4*Shrimp Pad Thai: traditional Thai noodle dish, big portions and good. 4.5*Pan Seared Sea-bass: Served with sautéed mushrooms, ginger, sweet onions bell peppers, longan, in rice wine sauce. Tender and crispy sea bass. Excellent! 5*Kueh Nagasari: like coconut rice pudding, we loved it. 3*Ginger Cake: per normal 5: Sesame Creme Brûlée: different and delicious!"

"update: 5 stars pros: spacious and pleasant in the indoor and outdoor areas, nice and attentive staff, great presentation of eating, delicious eating great customer service: the salmon of my daughter was raw inside. the manager came on the table, took the plate to show the kitchen. they took the food from the bill. negatiw: the server was not enough to illuminate the birthday game after wind bleeding, and just left. we had to call him again and he looked unhappy he had to light it up again. 2 stars high prices for small portions, high quality food; crispy kalamari was spicy. butter huhn didn't taste like butter huhn at all. service was terrible; not available for asking and ordering, long wait after ordering food, not know English very good"

"The ordering process over the phone could be improved; the person taking my order didn't ask whether I wanted the noodles stir-fried or boiled, nor did they inquire about my preferred spice level, which was unexpected. On the positive side, the food was ready quickly, and paying at the counter was straightforward and efficient. "Our reservation was after the lunch rush (1:30 were quickly and cheerfully shown to a table. The first impression was a bit unsavory: One side of our seating, was a long banquette, and our part and the next table had a pretty good dusting of greasy crumbs, which I quickly brushed off before my guest sat on them. As they had only around 3 occupied tables at the time, there is really no excuse for such a slovenly state of affairs. Whomever bussed that table should have seen to those crumbs. Our waitress (also serving as bartender hostess was very friendly and informative regarding the menu. We ordered several plates and shared them, which works well here. Everything we tried was tasty well-seasoned (satay skewers, bbq ribs with a bit of potato salad, buttery chicken tikka masala, and origami cod , cleverly steamed in an origami parchment box. We also enjoyed among us, a glass of wine, and lychee martinis. The wine (and a bottle of ice water, a nice touch , came right away, but the martinis seemed to take an inordinate amount of time, though when they finally arrived, were delicious and refreshing. All in all, I would go back. Seems like a great place for some Happy Hour tapas cocktails, or a dinner or lunch of a variety of nibbly bites. Next time, I would hope for a more fastidiously looked after room, and a beverage service that is a bit quicker in the delivery."

"The food was really good. We got the pork fried rice, curry chicken, fried wings with herbs, and chicken pad thai. I really enjoyed the food, it was mostly flavorful and did not leave me feeling heavy or weighed down. The only thing I was disappointed in was the wings. I was excited to try them based on the description that they would be “herbed wings”, but when we got them they were basic fried wings with some very light herbs sprinkled on top that you could barely taste The wings weren’t flavorful and the only thing that made them ok was the lightly sweet sauce that came on the side. Maybe their other wings would have been better ??‍ All in all it was a good experience, the service was friendly, the food came quickly, and I would try them again. Parking: It’s a shopping strip with parking right in front."

"They specialize in Singaporean fusion cuisine, incorporating flavors from various other Asian cultures as well. The dishes are meant to be shared family-style, but they are quite small, making it ideal for groups of about 2 to 4 people. Everything I've tried here has been very good, but the one dish that truly stood out for me was the Risotto. I can't find it on the online menu, so it might not be available anymore, but it was fantastic. However, my experience was a bit hit-or-miss, as it was amazing the first time I had it, but only okay during my second visit. I plan to order it again on my next visit to see how it turns out. Other memorable dishes I enjoyed, but currently can't find on the menu, include the tuna tartare and a coconut pudding dessert. The tuna tartare was delicious, but the real highlight of that dish was the taro chips – absolutely fantastic! After tasting those taro chips, I went on a (fruitless) quest to find store-bought versions because they were so good. As for the coconut pudding, which is wrapped in a banana leaf (not the one that comes with sago, which was just okay), I found it surprisingly enjoyable. Overall, my impression of this restaurant is that it offers consistently good food and a pleasant dining experience."

"We ordered eight appetizers; most were acceptable, but the spring rolls were particularly unappetizing. For our main courses, we ordered four dishes, and unfortunately, neither the beef nor chicken tasted fresh, though the sea bass was quite good. When it came time for coffee and dessert, the coffee arrived at a lukewarm temperature, and we were informed that none of the three desserts we ordered were available. To top it off, there were not enough teaspoons for our coffees. Frustrated, we canceled the coffee and desserts and decided to leave. Having dined at Straits for lunch several times, I had assumed their dinner service would be equally competent, but I was mistaken. There were too many issues to attribute the blame solely to the server or kitchen. It seems Straits needs to seriously evaluate whether they can function effectively as a bar and restaurant rather than just as a bar."

"This understated local gem genuinely has the consistently best coffee in the greater bay area. I love Sightglass, Ritual, Four Barrel, Chromatic, and Voyager, but honestly, none of them are on Red Giant's level. Eric does *such* a good job with roasting and qc, that their beans are a cut above everywhere else. Jimmy cares so much about giving people a good experience. I've been here well over 1000 times since they opened in ~2015, and I can count on one hand the number of times I've had a bad drink.If you're looking for good coffee in the bay area, I think this is genuinely #1 on the ranking."

"I've visited this restaurant twice after working out, and wow, that laksa really hits the spot! As some other reviewers have mentioned, the broth leans towards the fishy side, but it’s packed with flavor and goes perfectly with the sambal they provide on the side. The char kway teow is also quite good and served in a generous portion—I actually got two servings out of it! My friend tried the kaya toast and the potato curry puff. She enjoyed the kaya toast but found the potato curry puff to be nothing special. You place your order and pay at the counter, then get a number and find a seat while they bring the food to you. They offer outdoor seating as well as two indoor dining levels, so it’s easy to find a table. The whole operation runs smoothly, and our food arrived quickly and sizzling hot—delicious! Overall, I would definitely come back! P.S. I appreciate that they have a parking lot on the side (Hamilton/Waverly Lot D), which is usually not full. It makes dining in downtown Palo Alto much easier!"
