"The food I had was decent, but the atmosphere was quite disappointing. The furniture is falling apart and seems to be held together with duct tape. There are no waitstaff; instead, customers place their orders at the counter and pay upfront. After that, they have to find their own seating and wait for their food to be brought out. The meals come with extra bowls of chips and salsa, but once again, there’s no service. Diners need to refill their own drinks and grab their own silverware. If you pay before receiving your meal, the receipt includes a large section for tips, even though there’s no actual service provided. Mata used to be a lovely place for a family evening, but now it feels more like a run-of-the-mill fast food joint. I’m sure the original owners would be disappointed."
