"The specials also include dessert, so we enjoyed some banana pudding. Everything was delicious and absolutely perfect! Our waitress, Bobbi, was attentive and ensured we never ran low on drinks and had everything we needed—she was fantastic. The atmosphere felt like a cozy family-style restaurant with a simple decor, and it was clean throughout. We're here for the week, and I know we'll be returning. I also want to mention that we had three satisfying adult meals for just $36, including a tip! My husband and I ordered the special for $8.95, while my son had a shrimp platter for $15.95. The previous night, we spent $28 on steamed shrimp for just one person, and at another tourist-oriented restaurant, the bill for seven of us was over $220! Cox's is definitely a local gem, and now I see why. They're open daily from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm, except on Christmas, and they also serve breakfast!"

"I have stopped at this diner 3 days in a row for breakfast. Had the country ham, pancakes and western omelette. The home fries with a little onion added are awesome. The waitstaff here is top notch, quick to take your order and constantly refilling your drinks. Prices are a blast from the past and portions are no where lacking. Would definitely recommended this as a stop and would definitely return and make it a daily or weekly ritual if lived locally."

"We had to ask four times to receive our order, which was two fish sandwiches. Unfortunately, it still wasn't correct as we only wanted tartar sauce. Despite the mix-up, the food was hot and fresh. I decided to eat it anyway so as not to waste it. Surprisingly, we received our meal for free and the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating, making up for the mistake. "First came to this place in 2018 and it impressed me so much. Their massive taco with potatoes blew my mind! It was filling, it was delicious, and it was very cheap. To say I dream often about that taco soon after is an understatement. Fast-forward to last week, I had some friends visiting from Europe so of course I had to take them here. What a mistake it was. The food quality has really gone downhill. I ordered the same potato with eggs taco, and though it remains a big boy, it is nothing more than a sad replica of what it was in the past. Burnt, without flavor, and without a soul. My friends ordered other tacos that were not impressive in the taste or presentation. It feels as if they have a college freshman who just moved out of their parents and is learning how to cook by throwing ingredients together, hoping for a positive result. There are far better places not just in Austin, but in the area that I would recommend instead. The service from the staff was top notch though. They are all very friendly and have bounds of our famous southern, Latin hospitality. I just wished the food matched the quality of the staff."

"Food was good. Service was awful. If you're a young person I wouldn't advise going in there. My boyfriend and I weren't greeted as we came in and not even 2 minutes later and elder couple walked in and were greeted and shown respect. The waitress was rude and we got dirty looks."
