"My boyfriend and I went to have a good time to eat. We both sat down got our drinks and then started putting food in our bowls. My boyfriend started pushing the food down just a bit to fit the noodles and the lady yelled at him to not do that because it’ll make it “difficult” for the cooks. He still did it and the cook said it was fine it does nothing difficult for them. Then we sat down and started eating and asked me if I wanted a refill I said yes politely. Then she came back and my boyfriend asked if he could have a refill politely as well. And she totally ignored him and went to attend another person for a refill then my boyfriend had said that was rude to me loud enough for her to hear. Then she comes back and aggressively grabs the cup to refill it. It was more ice than the drink which was a bit annoying. But the customer service was absolutely horrible and disappointing. The cooks were very nice and polite the food was great but the waitress was straight up rude. This was a bad experience with the way she acts towards customers. We’re paying for the food and good customer service. We sure as hell didn’t want to pay for that rude act but we did and didn’t want to start anything else."

"Well this place is highly recommended, cozy, great decor and great service.?I started with the three pepper shrimp and scallop followed by the pepper steak. I discovered half way through my appetiser that there is also a sushi menu too. I wasn’t given one. In fact these photocopies of photocopy menus are very cheap looking, and there aren’t enough to go around. Ideally the hostess would seat guests and give them both menus. The steak was perfect but it doesn’t come with rice and no one thought to suggest I order rice. Otherwise a great experience, highly recommended."

"When I walked past with my partner today the restaurant looked very promising as there were quite a few people eating here.....unfortunately we were very wrong! We ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and Shrimp Dumplings. The pad Thai came out first and we were so...disappointed, it wasn’t even close to being a pad Thai and it was inedible. It was so terrible that we didn’t even get it to go to offer to a homeless person. The dumplings came out a little while later and they were better but being hungry and dissatisfied we decided to get the check. Even after mentioning to the waitress that the dish was terrible and sent it back we still had to pay for the meal. Overall It was a very disappointing experience and we definitely recommend avoiding the Chicken Pad Thai If you go here."

"I can't express enough how much I love the food here! I've visited at least five times, and the photos I've taken are from different occasions because I'm really hoping to love this place. Unfortunately, the service has been quite disappointing. Just to clarify, I'm not a picky customer; I don't request changes to my meals, I always tip generously, and I make sure to be polite. I've given this restaurant so many chances because the food truly is fantastic, but the service really brings the experience down. It feels like I'm a nuisance to the staff just by ordering and being there. Interestingly, each time I visit, it's the same two waiters, which makes me think they might just be overwhelmed. I completely understand that, but as a customer, I have to take that into account in my review. I still encourage you to support this place because the food is exceptional. However, getting takeout might be a better choice than dining in."

"Did a quick SoCal trip this past weekend and our first stop was Shang Jie Kitchen! We had our doggo with us so we decided to do take out instead of eating in. My husband and I decided to share their:#1 Lamb noodle soup with thick noodles It came with wood ear mushrooms, tofu skin, and some vermicelli noodles. The thick noodles were cooked very well with a nice and chewy texture. The real star was the soup base! It was absolutely delicious and contained the right amount of umami to it! It did have lamb flavor but it wasn't too off putting or incredibly gamey. I honestly think they could have even more of that gamey flavor but I do understand it's not everyone's cup of tea. Definitely recommend!#61 Shaangxi style pork biscuit This was much bigger than I expected and the pork they used seemed like chopped up pork belly. This was also super delicious and flavorful. The bread that they used was a bit crispy on the outside but soft when you bite in. The only thing about it that I wasn't too into was how oily it was due to the type of meat they used. The oil just piled up at the bottom and was dripping out as we ate. Overall, the food we got was great! I wanted to get the liangpi (cold noodles) but it was seasonal and they only make it for the summer. It isn't quite summer yet but I think they did mention that they will make it soon. Hopefully I'll be able to do another quick trip during the summer just so I can try their liangpi! If you're looking for a good bowl of lamb noodle soup, then you have got to try Shang Jie Kitchen!"

"The stir fries lacked the characteristic 'wok hay' and were visually unappealing. The shredded beef with bamboo shoots was flavorless, and the bamboo shoots were tough and fibrous. Instead of shreds, the beef was served in chunks. The udon noodles were completely broken. On the positive side, the soup dumplings, scallion pancakes, sticky rice shumai, and pan-fried pork buns were decent."
