"So I walked into Pop's on Jamaica Avenue in Woodhaven the other day And much has changed. Been coming here for almost 20 years but haven't been here for a few. Sadly they've removed a lot of the beautiful wood although some remains. The old fountain counter is gone, As are the booths and other seating to be replaced by elegant tables And a bar. I have to say it makes a cute little restaurant, although I do miss the old Pop's. The food was good. This is no greasy spoon. It's a step above diner food, but with the ambience of a somewhat classy restaurant. The new Pop's is a nice place for couples or families to dine; or to dine alone as I was."

"Every time I visit this restaurant, I stick to the roast pork with red beans and orange rice. I've sampled a few other dishes, but none compare to the roast pork, which is incredibly juicy and tender. The owner, a larger gentleman who is always present, has never greeted me with a smile, but the servers are usually quite friendly. In terms of the food options available in the neighborhood, this place is a staple for me. By the way, I'm fairly certain the cuisine is Dominican rather than Spanish."

"Had a taste for spanish food so I googled restaurants in the area and El Valle came up. Pictures of the food looked good so I decided to try it out. So the hot food is laid out behind the glass , it looked so delicious. Everything looked fresh they had white rice, yellow rice with beans and vegetable rice. They also had chicken stew, beef stew, rotisserie chicken, pieces of fried chicken amongst many other options. I had fried chicken chunks with vegetable rice and beans, my coworker had vegetable rice with beef stew and the other had yellow rice with beans and chicken stew. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food. The rice and meat had good seasoning. The waitresses were friendly. Service was fast. The restaurant had nice decor, nice to sit down and eat. It was also clean, so was the bathroom. I would most definitely go here again if in the area."

"I placed two orders for a total of $50. What a waste of my money. The pork chops were too salty. And the fried beef was IMPOSSIBLE to chew. That beef was too dry. I tried to pour water and microwave it, hoping it would soften a bit, but no change. I called the restaurant to express my disappointment hoping she would offer a replacement but she responded that beef is always dry. "I 'm so upset about the money I just spent in there, in a way it 's my fault because it can be very hit or miss with them. Today 11-22-2023 literally A DAY BEFORE Thanksgiving I stopped in there to pick up three trays of food because who 's cooking tonight? I was surprised my total was $32.00 especially for the small trays I just ordered, as there are other Dominican restaurants in area that have specific prices for the lunch tray as I could 've understood if I purchased the large tray. When I arrived home took the food out the bag I was instantly angry. The two beef stew orders had POUNDS of rice inside with FOUR LITTLE PIECES OF BEEF AND TWO TINY PIECES OF CARROT, THE SECOND BEEF STEW TRAY HAD EVEN LESS! THE other tray is Pernil which looks like it needed to be cooked longer! WHEN I TELL YOU IM SO MAD THAT IT WAS ALMOST $40 for happy meals undercooked meat. I 'm HOT! So angry! Honestly? I really don’t know how they’re still open."

"I visited this restaurant on Sunday, February 23rd, 2019, based on the great reviews and my search for a good brunch spot. When I arrived, I immediately felt like it would be a place I would enjoy, with great music playing. Despite the crowded atmosphere, I was initially turned away. My date and I decided to go somewhere else for drinks, but I had made a reservation through the Open Table app and was promised 100 points upon seating. When we returned at around 4:30, I arrived on time only to be denied entry even after showing my confirmation. The hostess claimed there were no available seats, completely disregarding my reservation. I decided to go to the next place nearby, and while waiting, I saw about 20 people leaving the restaurant. I felt confused and believe I may have been discriminated against. I have not yet contacted the owner of the establishment, but that is my next step. It appears that they do not welcome black patrons, despite the fact that Latinos are of African descent."

"I was very disappointed in the fact that the menu here is very different than the 4th St location. They don't have nearly as many full entrees, fish or even the enchiladas. It is very noisy and just not as good as the 4th st location. The outdoor area is very pretty, but it seems to be more of a bar-type atmosphere."

"Great restaurant, with a great atmosphere! The food was on point as well. I had the red snapper and jerk chicken, which were both delicious. The fish was seasoned well and fried just right, and the jerk chicken was moist with a crispy skin and just the right amount of spice. Although the prices were a bit on the higher end, every else was an amazing experience.
