"To make matters worse, it was Christmas, and the girl taking our order was yelling while my husband and I were waiting for our food. She didn’t seem to know what was going on with our order and even lost another customer’s order. It was a sad experience overall—they really need to hire a new staff. The soy sauce was in a glass container, and I had to reheat it because it looked like gelatin when I received it."

"Google won 't let me give ZERO star rating for this filthy place. This is the worst and the most unhygienic places I have been into jersey city.We were served breads in a very old UNCLEANED basket which was clearly not washed in months. When I complained about this to the staff (two persons, one at a time), the literally laughed and took the container and went away. The other acted like he was on the phone and just went away. This was very very unacceptable, rude behavior and wrost customer service.This is the so called responsive staff members they have. I will not be visiting this place ever in my life. If you wanna have unhygienic, contaminated and filthy food, then go to this restaurant.VERY UNPROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE."

"Food was not good tbh. I was heading to Panda Express, but then decided I wanted to support local/small business, but I should’ve went with panda lol. U get there and u order from a takeout window. It was my first time there and the menu was confusing, I couldn’t figure out the combo plates. I asked, and the man was dismissive and just pointed to the menu. So I end up ordering this plate with kunpao chicken with a side of rice. Fried rice was ok. I’ve had better. The kunpao chicken wasn’t at all good. Big chunks of vegetable, hardly any pieces of chicken. And it was watery for some reason. Service: Takeaway Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1"

"This is my favorite for affordable American style Chinese food in the neighborhood. The food tastes more clean and fresh than the other spots, better quality. It's a family owned business and sometimes they are understaffed, but I have never had any real issues or didn't mind being a little patient for them. The lunch and dinner chef are different... I've actually had some exceptionally good lunches, the chef is just on another level at lunch. Honestly never had a bad food experience at Shanghai Lee and I've been ordering or dining in there for 15 years. I'm giving them 5 because their score deserves a boost and it's a very reliable spot for me."

"I frequently come here with my family and I have never been disappointed! The best Chinese food I have been able to find, especially for their very reasonable prices! Yeah, I could sell my kidney and go to the place with the last name Chang, but Ionly have two. The egg rolls are amazing! Hot and sour soup? SO GOOD! I highly recommend the beef and garlic sauce or thespecial they have listed on the board, chicken and shrimp with green beans in hot pepper sauce! My daughter and I also love thechicken lo mein! And their yellow/orange sweet and sour sauce is so much better than the red stuff found elsewhere! Even myson who only eats chicken nuggets 90% of the time, loves the egg rolls and wonton soup here! That?s saying something!"

"I’ve dined in and ordered takeout from Mr Chef's multiple times. While the food is quite tasty, the service is consistently underwhelming. Despite tipping 20% on a takeout order, I didn’t receive any acknowledgment or a simple thank you. When eating in, the service was slow, and we had to request the bill several times. Overall, the restaurant falls short in courtesy and hospitality."

"super cheap and delicious! I'm a locker who drives for work in the east Bay region and I stopped at this small place for a quick lunch. I always start with the broccoli ridge and white rice or fried rice as measured for me. If they can't get the broccoli ridge properly, then nothing else can be good. but this place has amazed me. not only was the price especially competitive for lunch, it was the lowest I had so far. I ordered over the phone and took it up within 10 minutes and she gave me a supper on the side, utensili sojasauuse and even a little of spicy sauce. And I even took a jasmin unsweetened tee. all this for under $11! and when I went to the car to eat it, it was delicious. no sweat was perfect. who reads this review, tries the broccoli rift and checks my history."
