"I love the food at this restaurant, but the parking situation is not great. The parking lot is small, so it's best to go after the lunch and dinner rush. I ordered the beef tendon clay pot and rice cake with pickled vegetables. The beef tendon was incredibly tender and practically melted in my mouth - chewing was optional. The rice cake with pickled vegetables was equally delicious, with the chewy and soft rice cake complemented by the refreshing pickled vegetables. I would definitely go back, but only after the busy meal times."

"We came into the restaurant, and there was no one to greet us and take us to our table. I ordered soup, and the waiter was nice and understanding, but when it arrived, it was so salty to the point where you almost couldn’t eat it. I asked the waiter to change it to a different soup, and it arrived UNSALTED with no flavour. The rolls were good, but the soy sauce we got with them was also disgusting."

"The food at this restaurant exceeded my expectations. The Won Ton soup was outstanding, but I didn't particularly enjoy the Kung Pao Scallop. However, the highlight of our dinner was definitely the service. Our waiter, Roan, was a genuinely kind young man. Still in high school, he demonstrated a strong work ethic and truly seemed like a good person. With that kind of attitude, he is bound to succeed in today's world, which is often lacking in such qualities among his peers. Best of luck to you, young man!"

"I won’t hold back in this review. I should have realized it was a red flag when I walked into an empty restaurant at 7 PM. I was on my way home, unsure of what to eat, and when I searched for Taiwanese cuisine, this place came up with average reviews. I’m usually open to trying anything once. Unfortunately, the pork chop over rice was just a greasy mess, and my beef noodle soup (no photos taken) was essentially overcooked noodles in flavorless broth. The broth tasted like it was just water with a beef bouillon cube thrown in. Sadly, both dishes were disappointing at best, and I don’t think I can justify spending nearly $23 for them."

"We decided to have dinner here after my Chinese sister-in-law craved dumplings. Since it was a busy weekend evening, the restaurant was quite crowded. The service wasn't overly warm, but it was very attentive. I ordered a chicken and chili paste dish that was spicy and absolutely fantastic. The dumplings were among the best I've ever had (though I’ll admit I’m not an expert). My sister-in-law was thrilled and spoke passionately about the food, as it reminded her of home. My parents found some American Chinese options on the menu that they were more familiar with. I remember the prices being reasonable. We also had tea, which was just standard tea in my opinion. I would definitely return."

"Me and my family absolutely love this place! We come almost every Sunday for lunch and will continue to do so. The lady that usually welcomes us in is very nice and very welcoming. Her customer service is excellent. The food is delicious, quantity is good and for a very affordable price. The place is very clean and one thing that stands out is the food is laterally made fresh once you order it. Only thing is I wish the chicken lo mein came automatically with chicken breast instead of chicken thigh but for an extra $1 something you can upgrade to chicken breast. Overall id recommend this place to anyone."

"I have to say that this is our favorite Chinese restaurant in Connecticut. Every time my family visits from overseas, the first meal they request is from this restaurant. We order from here every other day while they are here and have tried many items on the menu, all of which are delicious. The sesame chicken is fantastic - it's crispy, sweet, and well made. The shrimp with mango is also amazing, with freshly cut mango. The restaurant itself is a great place to dine in or take out. The service is always top-notch and keeps our family happy from start to finish. We really love this place."

"This is the best Chinese food I have ever tasted! I have been a loyal customer of this hidden gem since 2004 and wouldn't consider going anywhere else. The vegetables are freshly picked and chopped, and the cooking style is authentic Szechuan and Hunan, just as you would find in their respective provinces in China. It's truly amazing! Unfortunately, their dine-in option is temporarily closed due to Covid-19, which I miss, but safety is their top priority."

"Joe’s Shanghai is a Solid 4 Stars. Customer service is wonderful. Food is as fresh as it gets. Sesame chicken is a winner, very flavorful, with fresh broccoli. It could be crunchier but the yummy sauce prevents it from being so and that’s okay. The shrimp fried rice is delicious with fresh shrimp, rice, and it’s not greasy. "I arrived at 12:45 and noticed the staff preparing some vegetables at one of the tables. I ordered a serving of pork soup dumplings and a serving of soup dumplings with pork and crab. They arrived within 10-12 minutes, which was impressive. Typically, I find crab pork dumplings somewhat lacking in flavor, but these were packed with umami. The broth was rich and perfectly balanced with the meat. I would give them 6 out of 5 stars! The pork dumplings were good, but they were overshadowed by the crab ones. I will definitely return!"
