"This dining experience was one of the worst I've had in a long time. Despite having a reservation and few other patrons in the restaurant, it took 20 minutes for us to be acknowledged for our dinner order. The wait staff seemed to be standing around, with the male waiter frequently talking to the female waiter while waving his hands. This behavior was odd and distracting. He also stopped by our table multiple times, rambling on about the menu without providing any real information. The grilled eggplant we ordered was poorly prepared and unappetizing. It may have been the worst dish I've ever been served in a Chicago restaurant. When the male waiter asked for feedback, I expressed my disappointment, to which he simply shrugged and agreed. The sushi was passable, but overall, the wait staff was slow and unhelpful. The restaurant lacked ambiance, using greeting cards to cover up wall cracks. I will not be returning."

"one of our visits to Japanese restaurants on the upper west side. I usually have sashimi, but this time I had a light meal mushroom soup and avocado salat. both were spectacular. one of the beautiful things about the place is that the noise level can be tolerated at night. if they are on the upper west side, they try to win it; not be disappointed."

"This place offers great views of the bay but the service was terrible. First they started off by being out of a few drink items on the menu (not a huge deal). Then after we got our first round of drinks it took 40 minuets to even have our food order placed. When someone finally came over the first thing they said was just so you know it 's going to be a while for sushi . I asked how long was a while and they replied a while . Not super helpful. Turns out they were short staffed which is not their fault exactly but a while turned out to be over 2 hours (from placing our order) for bland sushi. My fault for going to what was I guess a tourist place but still, would not recommend."

"I recently dined at a sushi restaurant that truly impressed me with its amazing sushi and sashimi selections. The highlight for me was the quality of the ingredients; it was evident that they only used the freshest fish and toppings. The sushi was not only delicious but also beautifully presented, featuring generous pieces of fish that made each bite an exquisite experience. If you're a sushi enthusiast like I am, I highly recommend checking out this restaurant—you won't be disappointed!"

"I celebrated my husband's birthday here, and from the moment you walk in, you're surrounded by a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The service is exceptional, with attentive staff who anticipate your needs without being overbearing. As for the food, it is truly remarkable. Every bite is a delight to the senses. The sushi was fantastic, though I didn't have a chance to snap a photo. Kid-friendliness: they provided a booster seat when my toddler refused to sit in the high chair."

"We’ve always had pleasant experiences at Okura, from service to food. The staff is gracious and accommodating. The food is very good, flavorful and presented nicely. We had a 6:15 reservation and were seated promptly. The server was prompt and courteous. Apparently, there was a large party at the time we were there. Our server communicated that the appetizers we ordered were taking longer than expected as a result of the large party and asked if we wouldn’t mind having our sushi first and apps after. The fact that he took the time to explain the situation and provide options was greatly appreciated and allowed us to have a pleasant and relaxing experience, overall. I recommend Okura"

"I was in town with m family for a conference. After a long day we wandered in to Wasabi for a meal. We were seated right away and the staff was pleasant and helpful. I had the one of the Bento Box choices. Most of the sushi was of good quality. However, some of the side dishes like the stir fried mixed vegetables and fried rice seemed out of place...more like what I would expect at a lower priced teriyaki stand. My standard of comparison would be family owned Japanese restaurants of similar price point in my home area near Seattle and Tacoma Washington. I would expect more authentic and expertly prepared items on the plate. We had a good meal but I might go down the street to another establishment the next time I am in St. Louis."

"I have never been so pleasantly surprised by a restaurant! The parking is safe, accessible, and free. The food is exceptionally fresh and delicious, showcasing their genuine commitment to quality in every dish they serve. The menu features a wide variety of options, making it easy for my large family to find something to suit everyone's tastes. However, the highlight for me was the service! Our waitress, Obi, was the best I've ever encountered in nearly 40 years. She seemed to anticipate our needs even before we had to ask for anything and graciously answered all our questions about the menu. She was simply perfect. I can't wait to be seated in her section on my next visit. Everyone there was wonderful, and the atmosphere was fantastic."

"most foods were very, very good. high points were the sake and hamachi sashimi (very fresh, generous cuts) pork bell (boiled on perfection,) zartoin (shares were a little small, but meat was very tender and sweet/savory taste was good). tonkatsu, ramen, huhn and Kara-Age were in order. was not really a fan of okonomiyaki or the reis Slider, as the consistency for both was a little to gooey for me. our server was very personal and the courts came out quite timely. drinks on the other side, took too long. the room itself was clean, and cozy, but at the same time was sitting comfortably and there was plenty of space for each diner and the various dishes. feels like a place where you can have a long, comfortable meal with close friends, a lot of food and drink. can easily go back."

"Any place located in Yaohan plaza gets extra points, and the food is very good. Chawamushi and Yakatori and monkfish liver! I felt i was back in Torrance! All the food was excellent, the Hamachi I really liked too. Weird interaction with a host that's worth mentioning we have double booked reservations and I trying to call and let them know. When I arrived I told the host that I was apologizing for the double booking and told him that I tried to call, he took it to mean that I was annoyed that he hadn't answered the phone and told me about six different ways that they were way too busy to answer the phone. Even though he took about 5 minutes to explain that to me in every angle possible. Didn't ruin the food though!"

"There is nothing quite like a top-notch, authentic Japanese restaurant, especially when you arrive early enough to secure a table before the evening rush. The place was bustling with mostly Asian customers, creating an extraordinary dining atmosphere. The service was excellent! For starters, we ordered edamame and tuna poke salad. The edamame was generous in portion, well-priced, and perfectly cooked. The tuna poke salad was outstanding, with exceptional quality tuna that melted in your mouth. We also tried a spicy salmon roll, which was very tasty, and a serving of tempura vegetables that were served piping hot, straight from the fryer. The shrimp was delightfully crispy and the vegetables were perfectly cooked, with a light dipping sauce. This place is the real deal! I can't wait to come back soon."

"Kirala is not for the cheap esser. Japanese food costs more than average, and Kirala is at the higher end of prices. I had to wait 30 minutes, and I came there before the wait got bigger. The ambience is beautiful, with a modern feeling. I was pretty sure the sushi reels will be small as most noble Japanese places seem. I ordered a California roll, rock and roll and a tuna and avocado roll. I was right because they weren't too big. They taste very good. The seaweed around the sushi actually added sushi taste and texture. The Californian role seemed like it had real crabs or something because it tasted better than the typical one. I really enjoyed all the roles, although it was very filled. A damn shame it costs so much money just for a few small rolls. They have excellent food and a beautiful atmosphere, but the long waiting period and the high prices bring the experience easily. Good place for a nice date, or if you like pamper yourself in fine Japanese food (and you have the money to burn)."

"Always a wonderful, delicious spot for lunch and dinner. I have tried several new things I had not seen at other Japanese restaurants before and loved them, and all my favorites/classics are amazing here, too. The staff is fantastic and so friendly, and the restaurant itself is quite welcoming. I would always recommend the pork katsu curry to anyone looking to try Japanese food for the first time, or the sukiyaki/sukiyaki udon if you are looking for a new delicious experience."
