"When I decided to order the steamed lobster dinner, I was informed that they were out of lobster, which didn’t overly concern me. Our server then suggested pan-seared scallops as a substitute, and I agreed. The dish was accompanied by several sides that sounded appealing, but since the rice contained garlic, I opted for mashed potatoes instead. However, the server returned to inform me that the mashed potatoes also contained garlic and recommended fingerling potatoes instead.
My dining companion ordered clam chowder as her entrée, and it arrived almost immediately. I assumed my meal would follow shortly after. Unfortunately, over 20 minutes later, while my companion was finishing her chowder, our server brought me a plate of food that looked utterly unappetizing. One half of the plate held a pile of dry, small scallops, while the other half contained a similarly unattractive pile of cold, dried-out fingerling potatoes—no additional sides, no garnish, and no effort to make it visually appealing.
Upon tasting the food, I found both items to be cold, tough, and completely lacking flavor. Honestly, I wouldn't serve that plate to a dog. When the server checked in on us, I expressed my disappointment about the taste, and she took the plate back to the kitchen for further discussion with the chef. The chef's response was disheartening: all of their sauces contained garlic, leaving them unable to accommodate my allergy—despite prior assurances. This was a significant failure on their part!"
