"I noticed a 15% gratuity of $13.00 included on my bill, which I discovered only after I had already given the waitress a $20.00 cash tip. This brought my total tip to an astonishing 44%. When I asked the manager to remove the service charge from my card, she informed me that she couldn't do so because it was a "service tip for the restaurant," and mentioned that it's customary in Chinese restaurants. I've dined at many Chinese restaurants in my life and have never encountered this practice before. While I have to commend the food and the service provided by the waitress, I believe it was her responsibility to inform us about the service charge. We didn't see the notice posted by the door as we entered. The manager told us about the sign afterward, but it felt like a setup. Because of this experience, I won’t be returning; I dislike being taken advantage of. For that reason, I am giving this restaurant one star."
