"It has been at least a decade since I have been to this location. My friends and I would frequent JT Wheatfields back in the day to listen to the country acts. When I walked in with my friends in the current day, it was a blast from the past and not much has changed at this restaurant, except for the name. We decided to sit at a table near the bar. The waitress wasn't wearing her mask correctly, and was only covering her mouth. She didn't seem to understand that her nose is still getting exposed to COVID. She was also odd. My friend's mom ordered a to-go order and she brought it out with the rest of our food. I'm not sure why she didn't hold off on it, and bring it out with the check. It was evident that I was still eating when she came over and asked if I wanted a box. I don't know why she was speeding up our dinner when there wasn't even anyone in there that needed the table. It was a Monday at 6pm. I don't know how the dining room was, but the bar was pretty empty and we were the only table. I ordered the Oh My Cobb! salad. It was good, but it wasn't exceptional. Salads always taste better when you order them out, but this salad was just ok. I don't think I would order a salad here again. Maybe I should have went with the baked fish, like I was going to. Also, there were so many fruit flies in the place. It was annoying to eat and shoo them away at the same time. The only thing I truly enjoyed was the company and the laughs had at the table. I don't think I will be back and nostalgia won't be pulling me back either."

"Ambiance (4/5): The establishment has a lovely décor in their indoor dining area. There is also an outdoor dining option. The restaurant has medium lighting and noise levels. The tables however are very tight to each other. We set a reservation at 7pm and the establishment was only about a third full on a Tuesday. Service (4/5): I thought the service was great with 2 wait staff and multiple busboys. I felt like our orders and food arrived at a reasonable timeframe. The cocktail took forever to arrive and came after the appetizer was served. Birthright (2/5): I liked that there was a splattering of options in the mezze platter but most were just meh. The Matbouch I would recommend and actually order on its own! In order of favorite to least favorite: 1. Matbouch – aka Matbucha, cooked tomatoes and roasted bell peppers seasoned with garlic and chili pepper 2. Hummus – pureed chickpeas 3. Labne – Greek yogurt w/ olive oil 4. I think we accidentally got a small dish of the New Age Baba (smoked eggplant) instead of the Zhoug which is supposed to be green (green peppers, cilantro, chilis) Incredible Shawarma (4/5) – The tahini sauce was creamy and blended well with the chicken thigh pieces which was moist and flavored with a slew of spices. The cabbage provided a nice texture to the bite. However, the volume of the dish is mostly supplemented from the thick cut fries. FYI amba is typically made of pickled green mangoes, vinegar, salt, turmeric, chili and fenugreek."

"I have been a dedicated fan of Snuffer’s since the mid-1980s, when Pat Snuffer himself was in charge. The burgers, the ambiance, and those legendary cheddar fries were the essence of the restaurant. Regrettably, everything began to shift after the 2013 bankruptcy when Firebird Restaurant Group, the owner of El Fenix, took over. This move was not just a change in ownership; Firebird aggressively pursued Pat Snuffer, compelling him to close his other businesses and effectively erasing his footprint from the Dallas dining scene. The menu, once brimming with unique offerings like spinach quesadillas and the beloved burger of the month, has been severely diminished. In 2021, they introduced odd items like meatloaf with a sweet ketchup glaze and mac and cheese, which felt forced and out of sync with the restaurant’s tradition. By August 2024, the menu had been reduced by 70%, while prices have skyrocketed. Cheddar fries are now available in just two sizes, costing as much as $17 with toppings. Fried mushrooms are offered in a single size and feature a breading that doesn’t resemble the original flavor. The once-cherished burgers are now served on stale, thick buns that lack the signature poppy seed taste. The crispy chicken, now tough and overly breaded, further underscores the decline. The Greenville, Texas location is in disarray, with dust and cobwebs accumulating on the blinds and windowsills, and the bar area visibly neglected. It’s disheartening to witness a place that once exuded so much charm and nostalgia being allowed to fall apart. Firebird Restaurant Group has taken what was once a beloved local institution and transformed it into a mere shadow of its former self. Snuffer's deserves so much better."
