"**June 25, 2022:** I had the Surf & Turf Burrito today, served wet with salsa verde, and let me tell you, this burrito is massive! It was both delicious and filling—make sure not to munch on too many chips beforehand, or you might struggle to finish it! **June 11, 2022:** For lunch, I tried the Camarones A La Plancha, which included a generous amount of pan-fried shrimp served with rice, beans, salad, and shredded lettuce. It was delightful! **June 4, 2022:** We dined here for the first time for dinner, and I ordered the Chile Verde dinner. The pork was incredibly tender, and there was plenty of tasty food on my plate! **May 21, 2022:** The Albondigas Soup was really flavorful, featuring four delicious meatballs that hit the spot. **May 8, 2022:** On a cool spring day, the Birria was just what I needed! It was a substantial bowl of beef soup, packed with flavorful beef, and with the addition of their handmade tortillas, I had no room left for dessert! **April 24, 2022:** The Super Tacos are truly super, and they're even better on Sundays when they're made with fresh homemade tortillas—those tortillas are only made on Sundays! Just a note: this restaurant opened about 10-11 months ago, so any reviews older than that likely reflect the previous establishment. **April 3, 2022:** I tried the street tacos, which came with four different fillings, and they were very good! Next time, I plan to try the Super Tacos with their homemade tortillas. The owner mentioned that they could make the street tacos using their own tortillas as well. **March 20, 2022:** I had the chance to try the Carne En Su Jugo, a special dish from the owner’s home state of Jalisco. It was delicious—a beef stew combined with bacon, beans, diced onions, and avocado. They even showed me how they prepare the tortillas fresh to order in the kitchen. I took some pictures of the process today! **March 13, 2022:** I believe this place is a new business that opened in the location of another Mexican restaurant that closed during the pandemic. Therefore, older reviews shouldn't be applied to El Tapense. We enjoyed our visit so much last Sunday that we returned to explore more items on the menu! First, we tried the Vegan Sopa Azteca. Wow, this creamy and rich soup was more like a stew. Next, the Albondigas Soup was just perfect for a cool, cloudy day. I would order it again when I have the chance to try more menu options. Lastly, we revisited the Two Vegan Enchiladas, and we can’t wait to come back next Sunday to try something new—hopefully, we’ll get to enjoy some fresh house-made tortillas! **March 6, 2022:** This was our first visit to El Talpense. We arrived just as they opened on Sunday and were drawn in by a menu that spans 7-8 pages, including a dedicated section for vegan items along with all the classic offerings you’d hope to see at a Mexican restaurant. I ordered the Chorizo Con Huevo, an Al Pastor Taco, chips, and guacamole. We definitely need to come back next week to sample more items from that extensive menu. I also asked the owner if they'll be offering a vegan version of the Chorizo Con Huevo, and they are currently working on it to achieve results similar to what I had today!"

"I happened upon this newly opened restaurant unexpectedly when returning from a doctors visit. It's in a rather shoddy looking strip mall right on commercial blvd north side. Even the building it's located in looks rundown from the outside; but once inside wow! everything is brand new from the many booths to the floor itself. My waiter was a nice gentleman in a freshly starched white shirt who gave my great service. I regret mentioning that I wrote reviews for Metro guide and am left wondering if everyone gets treated as nice. Not being familiar with Latin food other then Taco Bell I told the waiter I just wanted a light lunch and let him order for me. He suggested A Fuego Sandwich which he said was typical Mexican. Corn chips (a very large basket) were placed before me along with a dipping sauce. When I commented that I thought the sauce was rather mild he brought me a second one that almost knocked my socks off. Thank heaven he kept my iced tea filled at all times, The chips themselves were very fresh and between the two sauces very tasty. The sandwich had turkey, ham, Swiss cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato in it made with very fresh Cuban bread. I was there for lunch but the waiter tells me that they intend to have karaoke and also a Mexican guitarist there in the evening roaming around the tables within a month or so. I wish I lived closer, but I fully intend to come back in a few weeks to experience the whole works. my meal excluding tip was $8.00. Heck, I could have filled up on just the chips and iced tea and it still would have been worth it. Reading they're menu they also provide for kids, with chicken fingers $4.95-fish fingers $5.95 and a few other items they also have a short wine list, and a good size dessert list, but I was just too filled to try anything else. I think if you try this little gem of an eatery you will enjoy yourself and think it well worth the trip."

"Date: July 26, 2022 I had a fantastic experience sitting at the bar with Roxanna. The atmosphere was very personalized. The chips they served were warm and delightful. My friend G ordered the palomino steak, which came with excellent plantains, white rice, and black beans. I opted for the steak taco, which came in two soft round tortillas. It was also served with white rice and roasted beans topped with melted cheese—it was absolutely delicious! Date: May 20, 2021 We found parking easily and were seated at a table in the back of the spacious restaurant. Shortly after we sat down, a staff member brought out warm chips along with two mild salsas and one spicy salsa. We ordered a few glasses of wine, which took nearly ten minutes to arrive. The chips were excellent. I ordered the Costilla de Puerco, which showcased really imaginative flavors for the pork chops—very tasty. My husband had the New York steak, as we had heard they cut their meat on-site. Although it was cooked perfectly to a medium temperature, it was a bit tough. He had white rice and black beans on the side. I wanted white rice but received black beans topped with a generous portion of melted cheese, along with perfectly cooked plantains. When we got there, we noticed that they had orange cones set up in the north-side parking lot for take-out. We ordered ahead of time and chose combos number one and seven for lunch. A staff member came to us with a credit card machine, handed over our food, and we left with our meals—always consistent quality! The first combo was a chicken quesadilla, which I had no issues with. Combo number seven, the Baby Palomilla, came with white rice, black beans, and plantains. I didn’t expect to be so impressed, but the food was great and the service was outstanding. I left feeling very full! I also ordered combo number four, which was a burrito with chicken, yellow rice, and refried beans topped with melted cheese—it was so delicious! G had the Baby Palomilla as well with white rice and black beans, and everything was fantastic."
