"TL;DR: Come for drinks and dessert with excellent service, pass on appetizers. Expensive for what you get. We came here for dinner prior to a show at the Kennedy Center. It 's a convenient walking distance. The restaurant is small and located in the lobby of a hotel, but not cramped. We both ordered the prix fixe menu. First and foremost- the service here is absolutely stellar. I really cannot say enough good things about the server, the manager, and the chef- all of whom we met over the course of dinner. Lovely people and extremely attentive. They 're the main reason I 'd recommend coming here. Appetizers- I ordered a mixed salad and I 'd rate it a solid meh . Pears weren 't in season and didn 't add anything to the dish. My partner got the calamari, which while the squid itself was fresh, the breading left a lot to be desired. Entrees- I ordered the steak frites, which was a little tough to cut but well-seasoned and not hard to chew, oddly enough. Overall, I enjoyed it. My partner had the pasta with chicken, which he thought was quite good. Dessert- Best part of the meal, hands down. Wherever they get their strawberries from, it 's a great source. I had the gala apple beignet. I 'll admit, my expectations were low. It was EXCELLENT. Out of the two, it was the better dessert. The only thing I 'll say about it (and this is because I 'm an idiot and didn 't think to ask), was that it does have ice cream on it. It 's great ice cream, but I can 't eat it. It wasn 't listed on the menu as part of the dish. I let them know, and I 'm 99% they probably had it fixed by the next morning. My partner had the banana bread pudding and loved it. IMO it was pretty tasty. Overall, the price tag for the meal didn 't quite jive with what we ended up getting. For a prix fixe, of course it 's a deal, but the tab came out to $110 before tip- and we don 't drink alcohol. I had a soda and tea with dessert, and my partner got coffee. Wine runs about $15/glass."

"write reviews for two reasons out-of-this-world experiences and horrible/won't go back experiences.....This clearly from the one-star was not a good one. I went this past weekend for my mother's birthday one of the bigger ones and being the eldest/most local of the son's, my dad and myself wanted to give her a very special day/night; ending with a great dinner. that highly fell short We had made reservations for this past weekend for my parents, a handful of relatives and myself. I got there punctually for our dinner reservations to be greeted by the hostess which was nice to give me a menu to lookover while I waited a few minutes for the others to park their cars. Note: always use the valet service Friday-Saturday; parking can take a considerable amount of time otherwise Soon after the rest of my family showed up and we were seated. Aedan think I spelt it correctly helped by getting all of us water and asked him a few times throughout the evening for things, that he was very quick to get. Robin was our main waitress, and she was great throughout the night; especially with the disarray that was about to commence. So the party of seven sadly one couldn't come finally of us were there at 6:30pm and got water/drinks/rolls in the first 20 minutes. Robin seem to be only one of one of two main waiting staff with 1-3 helping dining staff/ not counting the bar staff because of this she appeared to be swamped by the number of tables that she was serving. That night was also the night that Yale vs. Harvard game was and that was one of the main excuses that I heard continuously on why things weren't going smoothly. So now that you have the mood set; after the first 30 minutes everything started to fall apart We than waited more than HOUR for our meals came right before 8:30pm not an hour from when we got there but an hour from when we got appetizers. Got there at I can time stamp all the activities of the night because of the slow escalation of frustrating text messages I was sending my partner throughout that evening After receiving our food several people at the table ordered the ribeye steak with chard corn and what was stated to be mash potatoes with horseradish infused. The individuals at the table including myself who ordered the ribeye, tried the food and all of our mash was cold but also have barely had any flavor of horseradish. My mom and my uncle couldn't even taste it but this was a hint of horseradish I could pick up. So as soon as I got my food I was sending it back, along with the other two orders. Robin empathetically apologized numerous times before this for the wait for our meals and now again was having to apologize for this she could change. She had the chef make mash for the table, which came out in small cast iron pans. This mash potato had no flavor of horseradish what so ever. I emphasize about this horseradish because that was the main/ pretty much only reason my mom got that dish in the first place and"

"Lobby was nice and check-in was easy. The location was good for what we were visiting town for as well. But we've got mostly complaints after that, which is why I'm writing a review (when I normally don't).Rooms are pretty outdated. There are hotel rooms elsewhere in Springfield for roughly the same price (2-star hotels, even) that are more up-to-date than here.Shower was not clean. We were put in a wheelchair-accessible room and the shower did not retain the water, so the water pooled onto the bathroom floor, which I'd consider hazardous. Speaking of the bathroom, we were only given a single bar of soap to share for showers and also for general hand-washing. Bring your own shampoo, conditioner, and soap because your room may be lacking. The room sorely lacks power outlets, and the ones we found may not be easy to reach. We did find a power strip behind the nightstand but it looks like it hadn't been touched in years. Covered in dirt.We were told the pool would have towels, but there were none. The front desk was nearby however, so that wasn't much of an inconvenience, but worth noting since most of our time at the hotel had been unpleasant. The indoor pool was freezing cold, and I generally don't mind a cool pool. It was unbearable for me, I couldn't get beyond waist deep for two minutes before I had to exit. We're also not sure if the water in that pool is treated, considering there was no smell or feel of chlorine in the water. The breakfast isn't free, which I was expecting anyway, but the price they'd expect you to pay for their breakfast was a bit high considering there are free breakfasts at other hotels I've stayed at that looked better. The cafe they have near the front desk had only one person working on a weekend morning, so we didn't bother until we didn't see a line. We bought an iced tea, and the associate gave us a plastic cup with ice water in it and placed a tea bag into it. That isn't tea, it's cold water with a tea bag floating in it.I know this hotel is generally on the cheaper end in the area so you should expect to get what you pay for, but there are others in the area that are better quality for the same price. Don't settle for here because it's the closest one to the MSU campus."
