"Local Gem, Not just another Mexican place. This location has been Mexican restaurants of a dozen different names over the years, of varying quality and levels of service. When we first moved into the neighborhood, we assumed this was just more of the same. We were pleasantly surprised. My husband and I are serious foodies who love splurging on an Iron Chef restaurant when we can and are always seeking out new and trendy places. Froggy 's is not that. It is, however, a great place to go for reliably good food at good prices in a friendly neighborhood atmosphere. With a Baja-themed menu, run by a retired SEAL, the food has that 'San Diego ' feel, with many products behind the bar whose proceeds benefit the troops. Their meats and seafood are always nicely cooked and well seasoned. The ribs, when available, are fall-off-the-bone delicious... some of the best I 've had anywhere. Their chili, black bean soup, and she crab soup are delicious. The neverending basket of fresh red, white, and blue corn chips and salsa for $2 is a deal that can 't be beat anywhere. $2 more gives you the option of upgrading to some tasty queso, guac, or other yummy dips. All of their tacos are good (the mahi being my favorite), as are the fajitas and salads. My whole family, kids included, raves about the Cuban sandwich and their churros. They have a good beer and bar selection, with a few hard-to-find brands that have been sought out by appreciative members of the military. A few nights per week, there is good live music... not loud enough so that you can 't enjoy your dinner or conversation, and not inappropriate for families, but a genuine positive addition to your night out. As we live in the neighborhood behind Froggie 's, we 've also discovered that the owners are Ocean Park locals as well, active in the community 's organizations and festivals. They are visible and accessible in their restaurant, putting constant effort into improvement as relatively new restaurateurs trying to learn the trade. The wait staff has turned over a bit in our many visits there, and service improves each time. Any errors have been mostly mistakes in ordering details, and have been promptly corrected. The staff is always friendly and trying to please. In good weather, the outdoor seating is fun. Smoking is allowed outdoors. Worth a visit, especially if you live or work close by, as it has that 'regular hangout ' potential."
