"Impromptu visit after putting on 6,000 steps at local trade show (lots of walking for 2 mature citizens, each returning to activity after rehabbing injuries . While we planned to have dinner after the show these two long time besties failed to make advance dinner reservations. Big mistake given it was not just a Friday night dinner, it was also Valentines day! Too hungry and tired to endure a long 1 hour wait to just be seated for dinner, we decided personalized pizzas would be fast and easy, and even enable us to side step 3-5 inches of snow we thought would have already graced us by now. Disappointed to discover our very close to home destination now or of business (need to get out more- when did that happen? we turned our car around thinking italian beef was our future only to stumble upon, yards away, a relatively empty City BarBQue parking lot. With an adventurous spirit, we decided to take a chance on a dining establishment new to us both. Let me just say, from Hello to goodbye, Deerfield City BarBQue delivered! In uncharacteristic fashion, I readily knew what I wanted to order: brisket, cole slaw and cornbread. To my surprise (shock? my bestie had gone through life, never having heard of, let alone tasted brisket (a good reminder of that despite the great similarities, how varied and unique life experiences can be- not i digress . I then asked the cashier to help me describe brisket to my friend, to which he answered, better yet ... walked away and returned with a sampling. One bite and he knew his order as well. Need I day more? We found our way to the back of the restaurant where our food trays were promptly delivered. The brisket is prepared dry giving the opportunity to try any number of their delicious barbque sauces. Mid meal, we were treated to sides of Mac n cheese- something I 've never ordered while dining out. Let me just say, OMG!!! And the little bit of crusted top, IMHO, was to die for. Might I add that the corn bread and coleslaw were perfect complements to the brisket."

"Toledo Ohio Location: 1 Visit Avon Ohio Location: 1 Visit In summary there are better choices. City BBQ replied to the Yelp reviews asking to provide feedback on their site. I started but it looked to be lengthy. And they have my feedback on the Yelp review and now this one. I ate at the Avon location first and the Toledo location second. Both in 2023. Avon Visit In summary, not a pleasant experience due to te service. Employees Laughing amongst themselves but not friendly and or unkind to customers. Plus New and inviting restaurant Great BBQ aroma Food was pretty good Minus Service was unfriendly at purchase, almost mean. Service of other two was unfriendly. Price does not include sides. Toledo Visit At this location I ordered the same and also had fries. The sandwich was OK but corn bread was overcooked/not fresh and the fries were so so. The service was average, not friendly, not unfriendly. Considering the price you would expect more. This is supposed to be more premium than traditional fast food but the price is allot higher and the taste is just OK with mediocre service. Its possible I just had bad luck with two restaurants, but After two visits to this chain I think there are better choices."

"I was on a visit up to the Carolinas this past week and my cousin took me to his favorite bbq spot. I love great bbq and this place had some home runs and a couple of singles with several strikeouts. The dishes that were 5 out of 5 for me were the Smoked Turkey, Mac n Cheese, and Peach Cobbler....these 3 dishes alone are the reason I would most certainly return to eat here! The fried okra was a 3 out of 5 for me! Definitely worth ordering a double if you love okra! The Brisket was not the best but it was tasty. Green beans, Pulled Pork, Sausage, Baked Beans, Collard Greens, and Ribs....all of these left me wanting more flavor but these dishes didn't have me singing which I normally do when tasting something great. All these dishes were 1 out of 5..??? I loved the decor of this place and its homey atmosphere."

"we stopped trying something for a possible event that we have followed. we ordered the brisket, dragging chicken, green beans, mac, hush weep and a chipotle sandwich. we have one of every soda to try. the scab sauce was my favorite. eating was pretty okay. the lush puppies are dropped when they order them and we are actually my favorite thing. the sandwich was really good. I'm picky about mac, so I'll give it a 3/5. was very creamy, but needed some season. I was not interested in the green beans. meat was solid."

"I'm from Texas, so I have high standards for BBQ, and I found this place to be lacking. I ordered a sampler to try a variety of their dishes. The sausage was disappointing; I think I could get better at Bill Miller's, which says a lot. The seasoning on the brisket was just okay—slightly grainy and bitter, and it lacked a smoke ring. It tasted more like it was oven-baked rather than smoked. The pulled pork had a nice smoke ring but was rather flavorless, even though it was decent in texture. Would I buy it again? I might, but I’d definitely ask for fresher meat."

"Owners were very nice when opened and pizza was descent. Later the pizzas had no flavor, bland and not better then frozen from a store.My last visit I had ordered with a coupon special.that the female owner said they would honor even without coupon in hand the guy at cashier said no will not honor special. "I?ve been around, I?ve eaten some ribs in all the rib places; Memphis, St. Louis, Kansas City, and my fair share of BBQ competitions. I?m here to say that the ribs at City Barbecue in Park Ridge were Outstanding and definitely created by a pitBOSS. These ribs tasted great, nice rub; not to much brown sugar, seasonings worked well together. The smoke was perfect; notoverpowering; present with a great aftertaste. Mix that with the rub and it?s was a winner, a mean blue ribbon and a hugetrophy. The Beans, very good; again not over-sugared; I tasted some brown sugar but didn?t taste any molasses, they had goodcolor, consistency, and flavor, a perfect amount of brisket in them; and not fatty scraps either, nice tasty pieces of goodmeat. Fresh cut fries: on time! I ordered some cheese for the fries and I love they take the time to provide the same typequality on the things down menu as the headliners. This wasn?t some nacho cheese out of a bag; someone worked on that recipe,white and yellow cheddar for sure. The Texas toast was just as on par with then rest of the meal. Finally the cake, the CAKE! So good, so so good; order the cake first; then the ribs. This is some competition food, and I am lucky to have had such agreat meal there. If your looking for a fantastic, life changing rib dinner; look no further. City Barbecue is the spot!"

"When my wife asked the manager for a refund because we didn't receive what we ordered, it took an unusually long time to get our food, and the place was in bad shape. The manager issued a refund without offering any apology. My wife has decided we won’t return to this location again, but I hope to persuade her to give it another chance someday. If we do come back, I really hope they have replaced the current staff with people who actually care. As for my previous review, I always enjoyed the BBQ, turkey, and brisket, and the sides were great too. The collard greens were really good, and their fried okra used to be the best! "Carry Out very quick easy to order and go! Large selection for a BBQ place. Tried the double sandwich after the girl at the counter explained what it was. Did not disappoint! Very tasty and the right size for me. Ordered the mac and cheese and cornbread for the sides. The mac and cheese is a bit bland for my taste as others have stated. I was disappointed to find when I was back at my hotel it did not come with butter or utensils. Will be checking next time I'm there if there are side items on a counter I missed."

"I asked for her Monday wing special, 12 for 6.99, that's 58 cents a wing. So I ask the girl are your wings good size for this price, and she replied they are normal size. I lied, I didn't want a pigeon wing and she just laughed, I also said I wanted to crispy the wings so that the furs were not soft and muddy. She said no problem, so I thought I'd order two dozen since I was told that they were normal big and crispy. When my wife brought her home, I opened the first box and low and see pigeon wings and did not cook as I asked. I bought frozen wings in the store that were better bigger and cheaper. I mean, who costs 58 cents and that's a special price on Monday for a wing that doesn't even measure one inch and half a length with hardly any meat at all? I command wings from many places and have never received such crispy little wings. Your regular price is 75 cents per piece I would never order from them again and you should think twice about doing the same."

"Visiting from Biloxi, MS. I was impressed by the quality of the bbq and I don't say that lightly. I used to live in Texas (famous for brisket and City Barbecue was definitely on par. The way they treated the pork was excellent. Pulling it apart and leaving the beautiful bark in chunks was ideal. "Smell that bbq smoke floating in from the kitchen...you know you're in for a good time. City BBQ, despite its urban name, is part cozy southern restaurant, with rustic wooden benches and chalkboard signs, and part industrial style, with metal lamps and fixtures. The grown ups will love the spacious tables and terrace; a tiny tot or two can sit in the reading corner and enjoy a book. The staff are friendly and eager to help, and the food is yummy too. Watch out, you may find yourself eating one too many of those hushpuppies! God bless and have a good one! ?Kid-friendliness: A reading corner with a toddler sized armchair and books to read. There's also interesting things to look at, like the photos on the walls or the flags on the ceiling.Parking: This place is popular, keep an eagle eye out for an open spot! "I recently had a disappointing experience at a restaurant in Salem. Unfortunately, half of my order was missing when it arrived. When I called the restaurant to ask for a refund, I was met with little assistance from a 15-year-old manager who seemed inexperienced in handling these types of situations. Despite my efforts to explain the missing items, the manager suggested that the delivery driver may have stolen or kept them. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and deceitful, as they are essentially taking advantage of customers by not providing a refund or any explanation for the missing items. When I contacted the delivery driver, she denied receiving the missing items to deliver. It is truly disheartening that the staff at this location cannot properly handle customer complaints or take responsibility for their mistakes."

"I went to City Barbecue for a tasting. I wanted to see how good the food was to host my I Do BBQ engagement party. Our representative Vaniesha was awesome. I met her at the Bridal Expo and she was very nice. She gave me all the info to try out the food. You 're allowed to bring 2 extra friends to taste the food so 4 people total. The food was sooooo good. The meat was moist and well seasoned. We tried it without BBQ sauce and we loved it. The brisket was a hit and the turkey was better than your average Thanksgiving turkey. Everything was good, including the sides. We definitely booked City BBQ for our event. I know that our guest will be satisfied once they taste the food. Plus we don 't have to cook. I strongly recommend City BBQ for a dine in experience as well as a catering service."

"This place is an order if you have space. The food is never done right, it is always burned or the salad in the salads is brown or the hard white part of the salad. You never get the order right, as they forget things all the time, then I can count that they have forgotten my drinks. However, employees are respectful at a certain point, but not good at ordering. I will say, but they did a nice thing for my dog when they left, they gave their meat for their last meal and wrote a note for me to say sadly for the loss of your dog that I thought was kind. "I ordered take out. I paid $25 for my food I had ribs, brisket, collard greens, and fried okra. The ribs were really good. The brisket had good flavor but was mainly fat and mushy smh. The greens had a weird taste to them and the okra one where was the rest of it?? Two it was very greasy and fried horribly. The ribs definitely made me give this restaurant 3 stars but it wasn’t a bang for my buck."
