"I rarely leave negative reviews, but today 's visit deserves a special mentioning. Context: this place has been among my favourite sushi spots in Houston since 2015, and I believe one of my reviews from that time reflects all the nice impressions and experiences I used to have here. Until today. I was finishing my long road trip and decided to have lunch there. Obviously, I was dressed in simple sports clothes, for many hours of driving, no make up and no fancy labels on me, as I walked in and was heading towards one of the booths, the manager literally rushed across the room, yelling to the waiter who accompanied me, waving at her to not seat me there, and pushing us toward the smallest table in the most crowded part of the restaurant. I stopped and asked to be seated at a big table, but the manager responded, that those are all taken (observed people randomly walk in and take those spots later), I turned around intending to leave, but she suggested a bar table (which was a tiny bit bigger, but at least could fit in all the lunch plates for both of me and my companion). I don 't know what has happened since my last visit a few months ago: all the waiters I saw today were new, and the salad I always used to order this time was 1/2 of the portion. The food is still good quality, so I was going to just let those unpleasant moments slide, but when I headed to the restroom the same lady called to me in a pseudo polite condescending manner directing me to turn around and walk from the backside, not crossing the area where tables were. Don 't get me wrong, I have been taking this bathroom route for years, I simply didn 't know the back passage existed, otherwise I I would have taken it, but being loudly stopped like a child who misbehaved in the middle of the class and publically excluded from the populated area SUCH level of hospitality and professionalism I don 't think I have ever met in a restaurant, and I have been to many very different places, from Ossiano in Dubai to a tiny hut with handmade kottu roti in the middle of Sri Lanka. While I was at the restroom the manager approached our table and started taking away the unfinished plates while my companion was still eating, making him feel rushed out. I beleive if a person needs to be explained that a fake smile doesn 't make up for general feeling of terribly unwelcomed reception they should not be in any way involved into a business that works by providing service to people who are searching for a break from daily life troubles, for a good meal in a nice warm atmosphere. I used to advertise this place to all of my friends and colleagues, but god forbid they show up there slightly underdressed and receive an embarrassment of reception like that. This place is off my list for good. Big mistake. Big. Huge (c)"

"Let me just start off by saying this place is OVERHYPED and OVERRATED. This dinner was on the evening of Friday, April 14th. My friend and I were advised there was a 30-40 minute wait. We were seated around 7:15pm and waiter came a few minutes later. We needed a couple of moments to review the menu. The waiter came back in 10-15 minutes to take our first order. My friend and I both did the AYCE dinner. I didn 't order much at first, and the waiter was trying to see if we wanted anything else because he said he would be busy. ??? (I thought that was weird to say) I prefer to order little by little when having AYCE, especially for a place I 've never been to... My friend requested her own bowl of wasabi and ginger. It was a really long time for our first order to show up.... and my friend was STILL waiting on her order of wasabi and ginger. She had to flag down the waiter from another table to remind him of it and said, I 'll get it right now. If you decide to order any half rolls, you are required to order at least 3 half rolls minimum at a time. (I 've never been to a place that had this as a requirement)I went to the restroom and came back to my plate and chopsticks being taken away, not by our waiter but by someone else. My friend said she tried to stop him, explaining I wasn 't finished eating. My friend flagged the same gentleman down. He shows up and puts his bus tub (which was full of dirty dishes) RIGHT ON OUR TABLE!! I asked if he could please bring me another plate and chopsticks. My friend and I decided to go for a second round of food, which also took an extremely long time to show up. The front of house hostess came to our table in the middle of us waiting for our second round (which was weird).....then a different lady came maybe 5-10 minutes later asking if she could take our menus? You don 't have enough menus for the place? Maybe we wanted to order more rolls or even dessert... but we let her take our menus. I started to feel like we were being rushed.... I couldn 't tell you what happened to our waiter, so I had to ask another person to bring me the check and get us taken care of. I got my slip around 8:50pm.We did not order that much food, and we were provided nothing but VERY SLOW service. The audacity.... We spent more time waiting for our orders than actually eating anything!I had one full order of the salmon lover roll, which I could only taste the garlic ponzu. Salmon is one of my favorites for sushi, so this was a letdown! This roll was also advertised as being spicy on the menu but was not even spicy. I also had the half rolls of Dancing Eel, Ellen roll, and No Name. Nothing exciting about these three because the fish was bland, and they were all covered in sauce. I got a full order of the coco shrimp roll, and it was just okay... All of my sushi rolls were falling apart. They consist of little meat, which is also filled with mostly rice. The tempura shrimp inside the rolls had an odd texture. I was concerned about how fresh everything really was.You guys, the food is not great. In fact, the food TORE MY STOMACH UP. I was in and out of the bathroom for hours! Spare yourself the suffering and don 't spend your money on this place. It might look modern and nice on the inside, but that 's about it. There are so many options for sushi in Las Vegas that are WAY BETTER than Jjanga. I am disappointed this place has so many great reviews."
