"I understand that service can slow down when it's busy, but it was a Sunday, and the restaurant wasn't packed, although it may have had a smaller staff. We were seated and introduced to our server, but unfortunately, he never came back to take our order, despite knowing he was assigned to our table. He didn’t acknowledge us at all; no apologies for the wait or thanks for our patience. We waited for 20 minutes before another staff member brought us drinks, and then we waited an additional 45 minutes before we decided to ask if we could place our food order, especially since others who arrived after us were already being served.
Eventually, someone came over to apologize and informed us that our meals would be complimentary, which was a thoughtful gesture given the circumstances. Our server also came to apologize at that time. We ordered an appetizer, but then we had to wait another 40 minutes for our entrees to arrive. By the time our food came, we had to immediately request a to-go box since we were running late for the hockey game.
When the bill arrived, it included charges for everything, and none of the meals had been comped. We didn't say anything at that point because we were just frustrated and ready to leave. After spending over two hours there, we were hungry and had to grab a hot dog at the game because I couldn't take my meal with me.
Despite everything, we paid the bill and even left a 20% tip, feeling heartbroken that we had such a terrible experience at our favorite restaurant."
