"I am writing about a purchase I made at Hayk's Cake House this afternoon. I have not set foot in this establishment for several years. I went a few times after they first opened. At that time I was not overly impressed with their customers service. This business has since grown in size, taking up more square feet in the same mini mall. So, today I decided to give them another chance. In all fairness, I should mention that I will drive well out of my way to top notch bakeries, the bakeries that receive top scores on Yelp. I mention this to be up front about having high expectations, in terms of cleanliness, excellent customer service, and quality and especially freshness of the pastries. Well, as other reviewers have said, freshness is an issue in this bakery. On top of that, imagining what the pastries might have been like on the day they were made, even then they would not have been top notch. I have no knowledge of the economics of running a bakery. Maybe it is next to impossible to survive unless you also sell the old pastries. I would not know. All the same, I know of other bakeries, more upscale, they charge more, but their product is impeccable, so good that they run out of everything before the end of the day. Their customers know to come earlier in the day, or they will miss out. It is a different way of running a bakery. And I imagine each businessperson who is in the pastry business has to decide which approach they are going to use. Needless to say, I won't be back."
