"The inner city location of Panino shares similar issues with its dark and outdated ambiance. That said, the food was decent. The main rib, while tender, was overcooked—I ordered it medium and it arrived without a hint of pink. It was also alarmingly cold, served sans horseradish, and tasted as though it had been pre-cooked and simply reheated in the kitchen. It lacked the spicy crust and rich flavor one expects from a good cut of meat.
On a brighter note, the lasagna was excellent—truly impressive. I ordered a simple martini on the rocks, but it was hard to detect any vodka; it mostly tasted like water. Despite the shabby decor and the unsettling feeling that it might be more hygienic to eat standing up, the lasagna might just be the redeeming dish that could coax me back into this otherwise neglected, painfully dated, and seemingly dirty iconic Italian restaurant in Colorado Springs."
