"It feels a bit strange to be writing a review for Halal Guys since I frequent this place so often. It's become a dependable favorite that I always enjoy. After years of trekking to the carts and standing in line outside in New York, I truly appreciate having a Halal Guys just a stone's throw from home in a permanent location. I typically order through the app, and my plates come with packets of white sauce and hot sauce, plus you can customize it further with the squirt bottles available at the restaurant. I don’t indulge in the cookies often, but I distinctly remember being pleasantly surprised by how good they were."

"Gross do not recommend. Ordered delivery from here on DoorDash around midnight on a week night. The food came extremely fast the lettuce was green and the pita bread fresh. That's about it. Although it was delivered extremely fast, it was not anywhere close to being hot actually looked like it had been prepped cooked days before then microwaved before it was sent to me. The entire meal, even with sauce on top, was so inedible, especially the rice. The baklava was a 3 out of 10 and that's a generous rating."

"Well, I've been coming to the 14th st. location since it opened. I don't come here much anymore since I don't work close by. I was in the neighborhood last Sunday and stopped in around 2 am and was disappointed. The restaurant has turned into an assembly line non personalized experience. I like a chicken on pita sandwich (since the day they've opened I've never been able to get grilled onions which always bugged me), I was hungry. I got my sandwich (with the un cooked onions) and was charged over $10 for this. When I got home (a few blocks away) the chicken was barely warm with the hard onions and a smaller (than I'm used to) sandwich. It made me realize that the Halal guys were a fad (and that it has passed). I work on 12th and avenue A and have found a Halal truck (close by) that gives me a great sandwich (as I like with grilled onions) personalized greetings by the cook and all for $8. Bye bye Halal guys (you are too commercialized for this native New Yorker)."

"Had an outstanding experience with Josh and Pedro, they greeted everyone that was in front of me and even overheard him having a great conversation with a gentleman visiting Houston. The gentleman wished they had a Halal Guys in every city! Either way, when it came my turn to order food he said there would be an 8 min wait for the chicken, I said no worries and proceeded back to my truck, I made a block and reparked at the side location. I came back inside and Josh was like I was looking for you! I thought you left! Had a good laugh with him, but it feels great to have small talk nowadays, especially at a quick service joint. You other fast food restaurants need to step your game up!"

"I really needed something to eat late at night and also didn't feel like cooking. I decided to try out the Halal Guys after watching my colleague practically vacuuming up the food from earlier on. I appreciated how quickly the order was ready. Their food didn't disappoint! I am used to eating spicy food so I felt they were under-seasoned and bland. I preferred the chicken instead of gyro meat because I thought it tasted less gamey. I also loved their shawarmas. I wouldn't mind ordering again with just chicken. I would add extra cucumbers and tomatoes on my own. Perhaps some extra mint leaves. Their white sauce was delicious as well. Looking forward to ordering from them again. Rounding up a 3.5 to a 4 because of the otherwise solid service despite it nearly closing time and honoring my request of not adding lettuce."

"Great place, had a great time at grand opening only down was when my son asked the girl if he could spin the wheel she said no I already sent you inside when she literally is showing us in the door. He didn't care if he won only that he got the spin the wheel, broke his little 7 yr old heart that he wasn't allowed. Aside from that had a great time and enjoyed food greatly. Also we met with family there great place. We even returned tonight for another round whole family loved it."

"I visited for lunch today and I must say, the customer service was outstanding. The manager, who was actively assisting, swiftly supported the team during a busy rush. As I moved down the line, I found the staff to be incredibly friendly. Not to mention, the food was fresh, delicious, and plentiful. I tried the lamb and beef combo sandwich, and it was fantastic. Since the pandemic, I haven't experienced such excellent service until now. Highly recommend!"

"this place used to be amazing before kovid. from which reason is eating not as good as it is used. there is no longer any hurdle in the rice as it is used. they mask everything by pouring a tonne of this white sauce on everything. also the gyroscope is not a lamb like normal Mediterranean places. it's just bark meat the plant goes on the hill. it's not dirty, in itself, but everything feels dirty and greasy. the tables are never completely clean, the ac does not work, and the front door was broken among other things that fall apart. Even the sauce packages they give them are oily. all this combination gives them no good experience. not as they opened first. I don't know if it's costing, labour force or what, but the quality is just not there anymore. I love this place, but now I'm just not a fan."

"Great food and great service with a smile. A wonderful young woman named Maria usually prepared my orders and the food is always outstanding and fresh. My favorite dish is the Spicy Barbecued Chicken, smothered in red and white sauce. On my previous visit, I dropped one of my earbuds and Maria noticed, picked it up and rushed out the door to return it. The restaurant is conveniently located next to the Dunn Loring Metro station. Highly recommended! Vegetarian options: The main vegetarian option is falafel, which I thought was very tasty."

"A co-worker of mine tried the Halal food from this restaurant at lunchtime this week and said it was delicious. Normally I'm hesitant to try new foods, but I decided to give this place a try for dinner and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Chicken Platter with Rice, Lettuce and tomatoes, and it was really tasty. I also tried the hot sauces they had available, and they weren't bad at all. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant in the future."

"The hype is truly justified! After watching countless YouTube videos about The Halal Guys and their rich history in New York, with its humble beginnings, we knew we had to visit this spot during our trip to Chicago. The food was absolutely amazing. The menu may be simple, but it’s made with a lot of love. We tried the famous Chicken/Beef/Rice combo, and it was incredibly delicious. The portion sizes were generous as well. The renowned white sauce is definitely the highlight, and a word of caution—the hot sauce is really, really spicy, just as they advertise. This particular restaurant was very neat, clean, and hygienic, with friendly staff. I can’t wait to go back and try more!"

"Ok! So....always open to trying something new. Now mind you, I love some Greek Mediterranean food. Logged onto Uber eats, ordered the chicken plate with rice. Lots of rice (orange rice) in the plate with a decent amount of chicken ??. Maybe next time I'll request half the rice, I couldn't eat it all in one sitting nor did I want to. Was a pleasant meal. I'd like to try in dining experience next time while trying the falafe."
