"We ordered the Chef's Appetizer Sampler for two, the Prawn Lovers Duo, and the Orange Chicken. Overall, we were quite pleased with the appetizer sampler. The chicken and beef satay were both excellent, and the shrimp were delicious. However, we found the ribs to be unremarkable, and my husband thought the egg rolls were just average. The Orange Chicken was tasty and had more spice than what we’ve encountered elsewhere. I enjoy spicy food, but it was a bit too much for my husband. I believe if it had been the only dish I had, it might have been overwhelming. Additionally, the broccoli served with the Orange Chicken was quite cold.
The Prawn Lovers Duo was really impressive. I loved the garlic version with the snap peas, and the sweet-spicy version was delightful as well. We even saved some of the shrimp for later, and I found them even better cold! One thing that surprised me was that the rice was not included with the duck; we ordered a side of it, but it was cold like the broccoli.
Overall, we enjoyed our meals, and Tommy's Wok stands out above typical Chinese takeout places. However, there were a few misses, like the ribs, egg rolls, and the cold broccoli and rice. Our total came to around $70 before tip, which seems a bit high for lunch for two, although we ordered more food than usual. At that price point, I believe everything should be exceptional."
