"Service was friendly. Appreciated it being dog friendly. Outdoor patio was huge and nice for a fall evening dinner. Really enjoyed uplifting music from Brother Dan. Food was hit and miss. Some dishes were wonderful like the mushroom ravioli and pork belly. Portion sizes great. Bison medallions cooked perfectly however sauce with dish needed more flavor. Overall really nice ambience and enjoyable date night experience."

"I've always loved Houlihan's in the past, and our recent visit did not disappoint. The restaurant was clean, and the staff was excellent. The prices are reasonable compared to many local options. I ordered the BBQ burger, while my son chose the chicken tenders. Our food arrived quickly and was cooked to perfection. I requested my burger to be cooked medium, and it was spot on. If you enjoy BBQ-style burgers, this place is a winner. The bacon was crispy and not overdone. My son enjoyed his chicken; the tenders were tender and not overcooked. We also indulged in desserts—a brownie and vanilla bean cheesecake. I would recommend both!"

"Haven’t been here in a couple years. And was unfortunately left wanting when I returned. The entrees just felt like they were missing something. Not enough salt, and overcooked steak were disappointing. The lighting in the restaurant was just a bit too dim. Almost movie theater dim. The restaurant was spacious, and had nice art. But that about all I can say positively. Wish I could say better things."

"I live around the corner from The Ritz so Burlock Coast is convenient. I hold many business and personal meetings over lunch or dinner. The service is outstanding and their attention to detail has gifted me many memorable times. One time, a waiter noticed the conversation was a bit heavy, and kept his distance allowing us undisturbed time for almost 3 hours !!! . He had the sensitivity to know space was needed. Very classy. Food and beverages also superb. Casual and yet sophisticated atmosphere. A neighborhood gem."

"First bad review I am ever writing. Unfortunately, the food was awful. I ordered a prime rib....recd a PuB Steak. Not wanting to be a nuisance on Xmas..I accepted pleasantly. It was TOUGH. Very over cooked. Every one at my table has issues ....ribs were dry. Even child's pizza under cooked. Ordered fried donuts for desert, left on table ....middle a bit raw. I do realize it was christmas....which makes the situation worse. Expected a nice sit down with family....yet we all.left hungry and disappointed. Top dollar...to be so unsatisfied."

"Went here in a Saturday afternoon for lunch. I so wanted to be impressed with this place. The menu and drinks sounded very appealing. However, the service was horrendous. I walked in and there was no one at the hostess booth. I had to ask the bartender to be seated. I ordered a Kountry Black Raspberry Basil cocktail and Strawberry Ricotta Bruschetta. The drink was amazing! While the appetizer was small, it was very good as well. Sadly, service was the opposite. After finally getting a seat, my bartender said that he had a 6 top and was “swamped.” I gave my order to a waiter that wasn’t even mine. I got my food 5-10 minutes BEFORE I got my cocktail. Also, I never got silverware or a napkin. I had to ask someone from the kitchen! For a restaurant that is going for a modern, semi-upscale restaurant/bar theme, they need to step up their service game, BIG TIME. I would go back only if I knew the service had improved. While the food is amazing, the service should be the same."

"The J Bar has a very nice indoor area that I did not spend any time at, and has a very lovely patio area on their second floor. The view is to the east, so you do get cheated out of a sunset, but that’s OK. The menu is not outstanding, but the food is a very fair value and pretty good quality. Kayla was the only server working the patio, and while there was one other person tending bar, she was HUSTLING. My wife and I enjoyed a couple of drinks and then enjoyed a couple of burgers, all on a delightful 75° evening. If you’re looking for an outstanding menu, then you likely are not going to find it here, but that’s OK. What you do find is a nice space, with plenty of distancing, and very friendly staff."

"I began my meal with a delicious side salad. My wife opted for the fish tacos, while I chose the Mahi Mahi special. The portions were generous, but nothing extraordinary. The service was excellent. Two drawbacks were a crying baby in the restaurant and fruit flies bothering us during our dinner. Overall, we knew this was not a high-end dining experience, so it met our expectations for a casual night out."

"A decent casual restaurant, as they have very friendly staff, delicious food and relaxing dining atmosphere. They offer a wide range of food and drinks and the price is very competitive. "The service was absolutely awful. We got there early but we did not see anyone for a while. We were in the bar area which we requested so some of us could watch the game but it was freezing most of the time until the heat briefly came on. This happened the entire time. We asked why it was so cold but the few people we asked had no idea. We got there after 4:30pm for a 5:15pm reservation and we did not leave until almost 9pm. It was unreal. The server was also the bartender so we only saw him a few minutes at a time. A few drinks would come but not the rest until later but some never came until we asked again. It wasn’t until after 6pm which was way late when someone else came to take our orders. The time between appetizers and dinner was not good. I ordered an add on salad that never came but was on the bill but we just wanted to get out of there so we let it go. The few people that ordered the Turkey special were unhappy because there was too much skin on the Turkey and it was hard to eat through. The dessert orders were wrong. We also paid for an extra brownie sundae we did not order. And the topper was the server telling us that our $100 bill was counterfeit and wouldn’t go through the machine so we needed to give her a different one. Oh dear God. Cannot make this up."

"We've enjoyed Houlihan's many times, but this night was a bit underwhelming. We were seated immediately and our waiter was pleasant enough, but was clearly having a bad night. We waited dryly through most of our meal before our second drinks arrived and had another long wait after dinner, which ended our desire for dessert. I then received an incorrect check with an extra drink added to it, and had to wait again for that to be corrected. But the food was good, although the portions a bit small. We'll probably return at some point and give them the benefit of a rare bad night."

"The crab artichoke dip appetizer tasted mostly like mayonnaise, I was served cold french fries, and they have a weird payment system. Very pricey re: portions. Server took away the two aforementioned full dishes without questions. In a practically empty restaurant, as we were trying to be covid conscious, they sat a large party right next to us to eat. Nice views of the lake though. PS:Brandon, general and social media manager, and I talked after his response. He's so nice. Another star til next visit for his accommodating attitude. Thanks!"

"I discovered this restaurant on social media, hoping for some quality Italian cuisine. There were six of us, and each of us chose a different dish. Every dish was outstanding. I had a salmon salad that was incredibly fresh. The others tried various Italian pasta pinwheels, including marinara, salmon, and shells, all of which were delicious. The wine served by the carafe is a great deal, so I recommend skipping individual glasses. I would have liked to have some draft beer, but I understand that it might not be practical for a small establishment. Overall, this is a wonderful restaurant in Blacksburg."

"I had to send back the food during my recent visit to this restaurant. The pasta dish I ordered was barely warm, covered in too much sauce, congealed cheese, and clumpy pasta. "Food was pretty good, the Ahi Poke was great, but the chicken on the salad had too much smoke which overwhelmed the salad itself and the short rib tacos ended up greasier than I had hoped. The mojito's were meh, they didn't bother to muddle the mint making them a bit off. The ambiance was pretty cool, more of a bar theme than a restaurant theme though with mostly high top tables. Entree's averaged about so not a bad value"
