"We recently dined at Pasta Fresca, located at 4722 Forest Dr, Columbia, SC 29206, and it was an outstanding experience. We began our meal with the Loaded Bread, featuring fresh garlic spread on daily-baked French bread topped with a blend of Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses, toasted until bubbly. It was a fantastic start to the evening. We also tried the Hand-Breaded Calamari, which was crispy and delicious, showcasing the freshness of the ingredients. For the main course, we had the Southwest Chicken served with fettuccini noodles. The chicken, combined with roasted red peppers, green onions, and Roma tomatoes in a cilantro-mint white wine butter sauce, was fantastic. We opted for a substitution with spicy marinara sauce, which added an extra kick. We also enjoyed the Seafood Gorgonzola, which included southeastern wild-caught shrimp and scallops sautéed with sliced mushrooms, green onions, and roasted red peppers. This was finished in a rich gorgonzola cream sauce and served with spinach pasta and a house salad. The flavor profile was superb, and the spinach pasta complemented the dish perfectly. At Pasta Fresca, you have the option to choose your pasta and spice level for all dishes, and you can pair your meal with either a house salad or soup. The atmosphere is vibrant, and this is the place to be if you enjoy live music. The combination of a lively environment and exceptional pasta makes Pasta Fresca a must-visit spot in Columbia. Highly recommended for a delightful dining experience! There is no military discount."

"We kicked off our meal with a 2009 Banfi Chianti Classico. Since my friend was treating, I didn't catch the price, but I'm confident it was reasonable, just like the rest of the meal. By the way, this wine pairs well with meat or seafood: 4 Stars. As for our appetizer, we ordered the fried calamari ($14). The portion was generous, and the batter wasn’t overly heavy. The only drawback was that the squid wasn’t as tender as what I recently experienced at the Anaheim White House: 4 Stars. For my main course, I chose the seafood linguine ($17), while my friend had sandabs ($14.50, not pictured). Both entrees came with a choice of soup or salad, and we opted for the Caesar salads with anchovies. The salads were excellent; the romaine was crisp, and the anchovies added great flavor: 4 Stars. My seafood linguine was packed with an impressive amount of seafood, including plenty of calamari and a good number of mussels and clams, but it only had one shrimp and one scallop. The noodles were just average. I would have rated it 5 Stars, but the mussels had a slight fishy odor. My friend enjoyed his sandabs as well: Both 4 Stars. The restaurant has a classic Italian ambiance, complete with white tablecloths, and the service was exceptional. Our waiter and the rest of the staff were very attentive: Both 4 Stars. If you find yourself in the area, Neil's is a solid alternative to other Italian restaurants nearby. The portions are huge, the food quality is good, and the service and atmosphere are both impressive."

"For our appetizer, we shared calamari that was among the most tender I’ve ever tasted. The breading had the ideal consistency, and the tomato sauce was light enough to enhance the flavor of the squid without overpowering it. My fiancé chose the four cheese tagliatelle, which was evidently made in-house with that delightful elasticity typical of fresh egg noodles. The sauce was rich and cheesy but not overly thick or gloopy. I opted for the minestrone, which had perfectly cooked vegetables. They were well-seasoned and tender while still retaining some texture. For my main course, I ordered the gnocchi with ragout. Initially, I was hesitant because there were so many appealing dishes on the menu, and I worried that I might miss out by choosing something so simple. I couldn't have been more wrong. This gnocchi was so light that it practically melted in my mouth. The sauce was rich yet allowed the flavor of the dumplings to stand out. The meat was cut evenly, fork-tender, and still substantial. This gnocchi moved me to tears; it was the best I’ve had since my grandmother passed away. The first bite transported me back to when I was four, sitting on her kitchen floor, savoring it fresh off the stove. Overall, this meal was a wonderful experience and the perfect conclusion to our brief stay in New York. I offer this restaurant the highest praise I can give, one that I’ve only reserved for a select few. I would have happily paid much more for this meal."

"I 'm always on the lookout for an area 's oldest establishments as it 's a tell of how the management and staff deal with myriad changes of food trends and styles. Kathleen 's service is amazingly good considering a relatively tiny staff and roller coaster ebb and surge busy times that tests the training and off the management and staff. It 's a quiet original neighborhood nice but not fancy place you can take a family or friends and not have the distractions of the Old Town or Colorado St hyper competitive I 'm YES certified great! types of places. A spinach fettuccine with grilled chicken has a very home style al dente spinach pasta with a well balanced alfredo sauce. A chicken quesadilla is generous and flavorful without resorting to overwhelming salsas or blackening. Blue cheese dressing has real Maytag and home made greatness. Looking forward to great brunches and many happy visits here much like places like Lancers and Lamplighter evoke for so many generations of happy satisfied customers. Love also that they regularly sell out of their market fish specials every Friday and Saturday more signs of a really well run place that will make you feel like you came home again. Parking in the rear, and something that may be an outdoor dining area are being developed and a whole lot of history in one 's tiny place. Closes early 'cause that 's the neighborhood. Eat well and stay happy here!"
