"We were seated as soon as we walked in and host noted a dirty bread plate and replaced immediately. We ordered cocktails which were perfect and the bread basket was great as well. We ordered the crab cake with fruit salsa which was OK but not to die for. A Caesar salad while the dressing was good the lettuce left something to be desired. We shared a prime bone in rib eye asked for medium was probably a touch on the medium well side and a bit fatty. Our desert on the house because of our anniversary was terrific as was the coffee. While our service was great we were A touch disappointed overall"

"I brought my daughter here for a steak to celebrate her graduation. We ordered onion rings, a petite filet (cooked medium) pasta. Her filet came out ****. We sent it back only to have it come out still rare! We sent it back again it finally was cooked as ordered. By this time my dinner was getting cold. We finished our meal when the waitress came over to apologize. She then offered a free dessert for our trouble. Really? Since this place is a steakhouse, I thought they could have done better. How about comping the steak? The rest of the food was good but we won't be returning."

"Although the food and our server were excellent my overall first impression of Mimmo’s is just okay. My mother in law wanted to come here for Mother’s Day so I went ahead and made a reservation. They didn’t advertise a limited menu for Mother’s Day so we were upset they didn’t have anything we actually wanted to order. We wanted the crab and artichoke dip to start and it wasn’t on the menu. We wanted the Chicken Toscana, my teenage nephew and niece had a hard time picking out meals because we also came to order pizzas which were not offered! My mother in law ordered the stuffed shrimp scampi and she said it came out cold after it took a long time for our food to come out. By the time her food was remade our table was done eating and she was the one we were celebrating!! Our reservation was at 2:30p and when we arrived no one was in the foyer to greet us. From there the server was great but the food service was slow. I understand it was Mother’s Day and expected to be busy but we waited so long for a limited pasta menu just to have one of our meals come out cold. At 2:30p it seemed like a Friday night would be more chaotic as it didnt seem too chaotic in the afternoon, just filled with people all waiting for food. It seemed as though they were ill prepared for Mother’s Day. I’m disappointed there wasn’t a manager that came around to greet tables. I’m also upset they didnt comp my MILs meal since she did t get to enjoy. I thought the food was good once it finally came out but I would just rather go to like a chain restaurant such as Texas Roadhouse or even Buca di Beppo they know how to pump out the food quick, provide service on busy holidays and it’s always consistent and good. I’m sorry mom and pop restaurant, we tried you for Mother’s Day and it just wasn’t a great 1st impression for me. I’d love to come back for a lunch on the patio with less pressure to please my mother in law! The drink I had was delicious and I’m still curious to try the pizza!"

"For years, my family and I have been visiting Maui and Café Mambo was always one of our favorite restaurants in Paia. We used to love their chicken Fajitas and would dream about them. However, on three separate occasions when we arrived a little late at 7:45 pm, we were told that they were closed. When we finally managed to get a table, it was wet and dirty and the waiter was unfriendly and unmotivated. They didn't even provide enough glasses for all of us. To our disappointment, the chicken Fajitas were no longer on the menu. The wraps came in a dirty container and we were surprised to find that there was no feta cheese and only a tiny amount of guacamole. Despite the food being okay, we were left feeling disappointed. It seems that the owner has changed and they no longer have the same love and aloha spirit in their restaurant. It's a shame to see such a great place, which used to be one of the best places to eat in town alongside Jacque's Bistro and Café des Amis, decline in quality. We really hope to see some improvements in the future."

"A lot of time sitting without attention: We arrived on Sunday and were seated promptly at 11:15. There was no one at the tables within 12 feet of us until much later. This is important to note. It was NOT busy, even though it was before a Paramount musical at 1 pm. The food was good and prepared to our liking. Presentation was ok. What was not to our standards was that our server was apparently doing double-duty elsewhere and there were gaps of 15-20 minutes or more between seating, drink selection, entree selection...and that 's it. We were never asked if the food was to our liking or if we needed anything else. That, to me, is not right...the gaps in attention and then not asking if we required any assistance. Finally, at 12:23 pm I saw the server at the terminal and asked that we have our bill prepared and provided as soon as possible as we as we did not want dessert and had a 1 pm performance to attend. He promptly provide the bill...I gave him my credit card immediately...and we left within 5 minutes. Summation: food is find but for this instance, service was less then desirable."

"I had an anniversary dinner at 8 pm, and seating went well, parking was convenient. The noise and ambiance were good, lively, and fun. Victor who served us did a good job of being attentive and quick to help us with anything. Cocktails took 15 min but they were honestly great. However, the major issues were with the food. We ordered 3 for 24$ sides to try a variety. My partner had the steak and I had the short rib and polenta dish. Although we stated we wanted to start with the sides combination, before our entree. We received the steak and short rib first. We didn't mention it and moved on. The steak came in Med-well, when we had ordered medium rare. That we mentioned to Victor. The short rib dish was missing the Brussel sprouts listed, although small, still very tasty and tender. The polenta seemed to have dried out a bit in the bain or maybe over-seasoned, if the thick texture is what they were going for. The steak was fixed immediately which makes me think it may have been a table mix-up in the best case. Truffle Mac was good but underseasoned, Fries were vibrant with heavy paprika and peppers, which is great but again needed salt, the bacon bits were not making up for it. Spinach and mushrooms were good with simple oil and seasoning. Let's be clear, none of the food was bad, maybe I expected better execution from a team built on the David Burke name, or maybe those details like salt, order accuracy, and timeliness are just that important."

"Wow! This restaurant really needs to educate themselves about service dogs. My 14-year-old child was treated poorly during a visit yesterday. A staff member informed my child that they couldn’t bring the service dog inside, despite the dog wearing the proper harness, which should have made it clear. This service dog is a highly trained animal from EENP, valued at over $20,000. The man continued to pressure my child throughout their time there while they waited for their mother to return. He had access to a phone and computer, which would have allowed him to look up the laws regarding service dogs in restaurants in under five minutes, but he chose not to. I will never return to this establishment again. To the rude individual who made my child feel uncomfortable while trying to patronize your restaurant, I suggest you take a moment to educate yourself about service animals. You should be ashamed."

"The ambiance was amazing with excellent servers. The only negative was the food unfortunately. I ordered the lamb shank which came with Mac and cheese which I would give a for the taste and for the portion size. My spouse had the oz steak with sweet plantains. "I’m quite disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. This morning, I took my 8-year-old daughter to enjoy our usual Sunday tacos. When I ordered, I specifically asked for 6 tacos and 2 cokes. To my surprise, when my order came out, there were 9 tacos. I was taken aback and informed the employee about the mistake, but he insisted that I was wrong. Honestly, why would I order 9 tacos for just the two of us? He simply pushed the extra tacos at me and said, "Just take them." When I went to pay, I was charged $24 for the egg tacos and the cokes, which felt unfair given the situation. The negative attitude of the staff was really frustrating, and considering this experience, I don’t think I’ll be returning. I usually come here at least three times a week, so this treatment was really disappointing. **Original Review:** The food is great, especially the breakfast burritos. However, the woman at the window always has an unwelcoming attitude. It’s a shame because the food is delicious. Just a heads up, the seating is only available on the patio."

"Excellent birthday dinner. Visited with a reservation at 7pm on 9/9/23. Waiter did not introduce himself (it was a very busy night), but I want to thank him for his excellent service!!! Tony (I assume) seated us and wished us a good evening when we left. Kind, attentive, and respectful of not being overbearing, the service was perfect. The Chicken Rittoli with pesto was delicious! Perfectly cooked chicken and housemate pesto was so fresh. My house salad with house Italian dressing, and my spouse's wedding soup, we're both great starters to the mean. Spouse order a Chicken Parmasean, which instantly became his top ever Chicken Parm dish he's ordered. Waiter went out of his way to find us a half bottle of an Italian Chianti for the evening, which was well priced and matched our meals well. Asked for a lemoncello dessert shot, which was a great digestivo for the end of the meal. 5 star experience. We were bummed to find out the patio did not have dinner service on a beautiful September Saturday night, but Tony made sure we were seated at an intimate table right next to the patio doors so we could enjoy the ambiance. Perfect!"

"Stuck in Mickey-land for a convention, a group of us were looking for a Sunday brunch spot. Oscar's at the Waldorf sounded like what we wanted and off we went. Although I'm not a lover of buffets, this one looked amazing, with more variety than usual, including a smoked salmon bar, prosciutto bar and honey dripping from a honeycomb! There were a lot of family's with kids, so it was a bit noisy, but that didn't really detract...everything the group of 4 tried, we loved. Only 2 things that were a little strange were that the cost of the buffet only included Mimosas, not **** Marys and there were no Eggs Benedict on the buffet??What impressed me most though was the commitment to making the customer happy. When I got to the salmon bar, it was empty, although two staff members I asked told me it would be restocked. When I mentioned it to our waiter, he came back and said they'd run out, which was disappointing. The manager came over an apologized, said they'd even sent over to the next door Hikton but they were out til Monday...not what I wanted to hear. 15 minutes later the manager appeared with a plate heaped with the best smoked salmon I've had in a long time....THAT is service."

"We were called on July 3rd informing us they were opening later than normal that was fine so we made reservations for five on July 4th. When we arrive arrived the restaurant was totally dark and obviously not open for business. The door was left open and we announced that we were there. The smell on the restaurant and the and the decor with the furnishings made us not want to eat there immediately. So I called the phone number after waiting 2 minutes inside the restaurant with no one attending me. Gentleman came out and answer the phone while we were outside so we stepped inside and he informed us that they won't be open for another 30 minutes which at that point would have been close to 6 p.m. My wife who is from Uruguay was appalled and embarrassed that a restaurant could be so poorly run and be so poorly maintained. I wasn't able to eat the food so I cant rate it and the noise level is inconsequential because I never sat down to eat. So we went to another restaurant down by Battery Park had wonderful Pizza in a clean inattentive restaurant and would never recommend this dining experience to my worst enemy. "However, we did notice that the lighting was quite dim; while the area under the central ceiling fixture was well-lit, the spotlight lighting on both sides of the restaurant was inadequate. As the dining room filled up, we observed many servers, all of whom were friendly and attentive. The nachos and salsa, standard fare at any Mexican restaurant, were tasty, but we were charged $5 for a second helping since our entrees took nearly 30 minutes to arrive. That said, the food itself was delicious, plentiful, and beautifully presented. The “Combinacion un poco de Todos” offered a great sampling of five different items from their menu, while the chicken fajitas were excellent, seasoned with paprika and served sizzling, along with tasty flour tortillas for a customizable experience. Our main concerns were the slow service for the food and the high prices for cocktails: a rail whiskey and Coke was $7, and a Wisconsin old-fashioned was $8. While we're open to spending on signature cocktails or higher-end drinks, these were rather ordinary and didn't justify their price."
