"I used to love Poseidon for the simple fact that it 's one of THE ONLY places open late enough in New Orleans to satisfy an after hours hunger attack or late night craving with something more substantial than fried chicken or gas station finger foods; but rather, halfway decent sushi and even chargrilled oysters if your in the mood for something decadent. But last night I was really rubbed the wrong way by my pick up order experience. I was excited to find that after 1030pmthe poke i was craving was actually attainable, with a menu description of seaweed salad, mango, eel, salmon, tuna and asparagus ????. I arrived early and decided to have a look at the menu they had at the register while waiting. Afterreading the description I added a green salad to my order: spring mix, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, ranch or ginger dressing i asked if I could have one of each dressings which they quietly charged me extra for... When i got my order idrove straight home (about 15 mins) eager to sit down and satiate my grumbling belly, only to find that the greens salad was actually a handful of pale iceberg lettuce and nothing more, apart from the single ginger dressing (the upchargedranch was forgotten). Very upsetting, considering i was looking forward to prefacing my meal with some fresh greens and veggies ????On to the poke bowl, it was slightly small but the fish was fresh enough. The mango however was some kindof dehydrated, or previously frozen mango chunks that had been thawed/rehydrated into a flavorless sponge like substance. When i called to inform the manager about my disappointing salad he told me it 's because they ran out of tomato and 'could i just eat it that way? ' How about before handing someone their order u disclose that fact rather than sending them home with something that is not even close to what was advertised?? I explained i was already across town and tired, and could they just offer me a credit for another time but he told me I must keep the sal"

"I got egg on my shirt, so yes, a darn good brunch was had! Forget the over cooked omelets you could have at some of those over crowded brunchy joints. The eggs of my 'Full Irish ' were perfectly runny, the hashrowns perfectly ready to soak up the yolk, and the breakfast sausage had that lovely crispness you want when you slice through the skin, but was oh so juicy and flavourful. It 's a certifiable nap on a plate. Also their mini potato pancakes are to die for, crispy, just salty enough, and much to easy to share out of someone else 's basket!Did I mention service is tops here? They may be understaffed according to the sign on their door, but everyone who came to the table was attentive, friendly, and more than willing to help. They were also more than happy to find answers to our allergen concerns! Staff like this are why regulars come back to a pub, and when you see a granny waving at a strapping hulk of a server because she knows him, you 're in the right spot! What else do you get? Well you get a real pub with dim lighting in the back (perfect for a retreat from a hot summer 's day), and you also get kids during the day (as you would expect for a proper pub). There 's a descent selection on tap. The restrooms are two genderless toilet closets that are well cleaned and well kept (and have tiles missing from their wood wall trim, somehow perfect for the atmosphere). It 's a very homey place and I 'm sorry I only discovered it now, in the middle of the day. I 'm definitely looking forward to coming back again and trying more on their extensive menu...and also doing some night drinking. So far though, its an 11/10.(The only knock I might have is the lack of rashers and puddings in the Irish breakfast but in this country it 's hard sell.)Kid friendliness: Welcomes kids as any real pub should. Tight spaces in the back does mean their screams of delight will echo and reverberate.Parking: Parking is a small challenge, especially immediately out front. The spaces are wide enough, there just aren 't enough of them right there"
