"I spent 3 days on the island and ate at the best restaurants, and this meal was the best by far. I didn’t eat at Grand Hotel because it was closed for a conference. I did eat there many years ago and wasn’t overly impressed. Flavor—wonderful combinations of flavors and textures. I also had the wine pairing which was perfect. Presentation—beautifully plated, unique Caesar salad and apple pie, on par with the best restaurants. Service—friendly, efficient, not overbearing. Waiter Basil was great. They even introduced me to one of the chefs when they saw how much I was enjoying the meal. Ambiance—spacious dining room but still warm and cozy. Live piano music. Beautiful view of Lake Huron. Very romantic. Value—When you add up the quality of the food, service, ambiance, and location, the price is very reasonable! I’ve eaten at 2 and 3 star Michelin restaurants that I didn’t enjoy as much. This meal was definitely one of the best I’ve had in quite a while."
