"This used to be an easy 5 star rating; I've been a loyal and frequent customer of New China House for about 15 years! They've consistently been my favorite restaurant in this entire area, and the only local Chinese restaurant I patronized that's how much I loved the food I used to get. I absolutely LOVED their Monk's menu (particularly the Monk's Beef (seitan) with Broccoli, which I nearly always ordered), and the Crispy Eggplant! The Vegetable Chow Mai Fun was tasty, too. I also always included the Vegetable Spring Rolls and Vegetable Dumplings (fried) with my orders. Because I'd been ordering the Monk's Beef with Broccoli for so many years, I didn't even know about the Crispy Eggplant until about a year ago... when I promptly fell in love with it, and ordered it repeatedly thereafter (alongside the Monk's). I cannot BEGIN to convey my disappointment when they suddenly stopped offering the Crispy Eggplant. However, I assumed they still had my old favorites... but no! The ENTIRE Monk's category has been removed from the menu! AND even the Vegetable Dumplings have disappeared, too! Alllllll the dishes the only dishes I loved are gone! New China House, say it ain't so! Please bring them back!"

"I just ordered from Thiru Uber, and the food was excellent. It arrived hot, tasted just as I expected, and was very fresh. I've eaten here several times over the past decade, and to be honest, I didn't expect much from a delivery order. However, I was blown away by the presentation, taste, and quality. I ordered the grilled Vermicelli shell, and it was fantastic. I also got the Vietnamese egg rolls and finished four out of six almost immediately—they were super crispy with a moist and flavorful filling, just perfect! I was so impressed that I called them back to share my thoughts. This place has definitely become my new favorite!"

"I have been going here and ordering delivery from them for years. I recall a time when all their dishes were delicious. Now, I have come to accept, although not great, an ok delivery spot. They have quick delivery service, friendly phone service, and vegatarian options. I recently ordered from them the Vegetarian House Special Mei Fun. It was supposed to their version of Singapore Mei Fun, curry, hot and spicy. It was not good. There was no curry, no spice, not hot. It was bland. There were almost no veggies in it. Some carrots and Napa cabbage, and a scallion slice. Even the meat version typically has veggies in it. There was a lot of fake meat. But all of it tasted the same. Also ordered the spring rolls, also bland. Everything was salty but there was no flavor. Very disappointed."

"My family and I order delivery and although we order super late the restaurant did call me to inform me that being the time it was and how far that they weren’t going to deliver, but there was a server who over heard the manager over the phone tell me that they wouldn’t be able to place my order and that SERVER OFFERED TO BRING ME MY ORDER and with that I couldn’t say this enough. This place is amazing. I’m so grateful of the server who delivered my food to my house that night because my 2 year old son was extremely happy to have his rice and Fried Gyoza. Not only the food was absolutely delicious, it truly hit that Chinese spot that I was wanting and like I said the service I received from here will definitely keep me and my family coming back (delivery, take out or dine in). Thank you all again and for the other customers out there reading this DO IT, eat here you will not regret it because the food is phenomenal and the service is just as phenomenal. Keep it up "

"I had the most tender chicken and vegetables I've ever tasted at a Chinese restaurant. As someone who is new to the area, I didn’t have a favorite spot until now—this is definitely my go-to place. The food was hot and delicious! The wonton soup was packed with flavor, and I really enjoyed the brown gravy in the Chicken and Broccoli. I would rate it a perfect 10/10. I also tried the hot and spicy wontons and the sesame beef, and both were equally delicious—another 10/10!"

"When I arrived, the older woman at the front completely ignored me for the first five minutes. When I finally managed to ask about my order, she ignored me again until I had to raise my voice and say “hello?” Only then did she respond, telling me it would be just a few minutes, which ended up being ten. I will never return. Edit: If you want to twist the narrative, at least acknowledge the reality of the situation. I showed up at 5:04 PM for my pickup. I have screenshots from another customer to back that up. I left at 5:18 PM, having waited while a man in glasses cooked, a young man walked about, and the older woman bagged items. I stood there until she finished bagging and walked away. When I tried to get her attention, saying “excuse me” into the microphone, she didn’t respond. She returned five minutes later. During that time, you dispatched a delivery driver who was waiting after I had already arrived. Another woman there was ignored for just as long. According to the customer, he ordered his food at 4:42 PM. If you choose to ignore your patrons, don’t be surprised when they don’t feel friendly—especially when your customer service is sorely lacking. Even after waiting for ten minutes, I asked for an update and was told it would be just a few minutes more, only to wait another ten. Just because I wasn't a regular patron doesn’t mean I wasn’t worthy of courteous service. Deliberately ignoring someone and then laughing about it only invites negative feedback. Your customer service needs serious improvement, as it was unwelcoming, rude, condescending, and unprofessional. It’s no wonder your reviews hover around a 3.8."

"This is the best pizza I've ever had! I love the restaurant in Evergreen, but lately, I've been going to the Crestwood location on Cicero since it's closer when I'm in the city. Unfortunately, the service there wasn't great. My pizza was mistakenly given to another table, so I had to wait about half an hour for a replacement. However, I did receive a complimentary glass of wine and an appetizer for the trouble. Despite the service issues, I absolutely love the taste of their pizza!"

"My family and I have been ordering from Hunan Star for over 8 years and not one time have we been disappointed! Their food is always served hot and yummy! Hands down the best Chinese/Asian food in town! If you ever get tired of just doing take-out, I’d recommend actually dining in! The service is amazing and we never leave hungry. "Don’t let the pictures on this restaurants web page fool you! We wanted to try somewhere new, that was a total bust. By the looks of pictures the food should have been amazing. WRONG. The staff was friendly, I’ll give them that but there was not really any service when I needed to get my own plate/silverware and drinks. We thought we would be sitting at a table around a cooking, making food to order. Instead we got food that tasted horrible. Like it was re heated from a microwave. We ordered the steak/shrimp hibachi and some sushi, I have never not finished my sushi, but this tasted like it was frozen and thawed out. Neither of us finished our meals, we bussed our own table and left extremely disappointed. We even read reviews, I’m not sure what these people were ordering to be so happy with what they received but we will absolutely never be returning. Complete total waste of $75. "I ordered the sushi special that came with 3 rolls of sushi , but they only sent 1 small container of soy sauce that was 1/4 filled not even 1/2 way filled , all for 3 rolls, which wasn’t a sufficient amount of soy sauce for the amount ordered. They offered to bring more but I already discarded the remaining sushi because I had no soy sauce for it. Don’t think I’ll be ordering again because this place has been cutting corners and giving out the bare minimum of condiments but charging more for the food and everything else, all in the name of saving them more money and stretching everything to the brim and shorting the r customer in the process ."

"I have been ordering from here for long time...maybe since 2013? They have a lot of great items. I love their sushi (my favorites are the Baltimore Roll and Phoenix Roll). I also like a lot of the entrees. I have gotten curries and kung pao before. They are very generous with the amount of shrimp and I can typically get multiple meals from these entrees. You can order from them directly and they have very nice and friendly drivers."
