"Visited with my daughter on a Saturday afternoon around 2:30 pm. We had crab fried noodles, peking spare ribs and rice, sizzling veal chops. All delicious. And generous portions. There is a huge menu all in English which not all Chinatown restaurants have. A ton of dishes I have never seen before. I could have tried dozens. The small restaurant is in a basement, full of Chinese diners. It’s all very functional and the service was ok but there is no interaction with guests. The food is very good. I don’t think places like this score high on trip advisor. But that’s nothing to do with the food. Try it if you love Chinese food. There are hundreds of ways to cook authentic Chinese food but few western restaurants avoid the trap of pampering to western tastes. It feels like Yung Sun is definitely one of those that has retained its traditions and food heritage. Interesting to see them take a fresh meet delivery during our meal. 4 or 5 sacks of food arrived and were delivered to a table in the middle of the restaurant. They cut these paper sacks open and pulled out loads of whole chickens and ducks. All the staff joined in bagging them up separately and putting them in the freezer. Sounds weird but it all seemed pretty normal to the people working and eating here. We stuffed ourselves but the food was so good, neither of us felt bloated or uncomfortably full. We didn’t eat again that day because we never felt hungry again."
