"Food here is absolutely delicious. Homestyle meals cooked with a great deal of care and vim. Everything on the menu is excellent. Here is my best shot at a little beginners guide . Hadn 't tried Haitian food before I ate here and now it 's one of my favorites. Lalo Greens similar in taste to collard greens. The chef gets these brought in special from overseas. Seasoned and cooked down with meat to a texture that 's like cooked spinach. I enjoy this dish 's unique flavor. Not a bitter flavor but just something different. Hearty and flavorful with the shredded meat. Legumes Vegetarian option with eggplant, carrot, cabbage, special squash. Cooked and seasoned to a thick stew texture. I 'm told it takes hours to get this dish right and it 's delicious. I love eggplant, this is one of the best preparations I 've ever tasted. Fried Chicken or Fried Goat This isn 't deep fried but just has that crisp outside with seasoning. So not too heavy. Really moist throughout, flavor to the bone. Great thing to try if you 're wondering where to start. Bannann Peze Fried green plantains. Basically tostones. Great snack, always made fresh. These come with every main dish. Served with pikliz. Pikliz Vinegary onion salad. Spicy with scotch bonnet peppers. Eat this on its own or add it to something. Good compliment to the fried dishes especially. Rice and Beans or Black Rice The rice is delicious. Seasoned rice, perfect fluffy texture with peas or lentils. Black rice has a little bit more flavor, flavored with mushrooms. Comes with your meal. Vegetarian options: Legumes, Bannann Pezze, Rice and Beans, White Rice with Black Beans all delicious."

"This food is AH-mazing. I got the chicken with yellow rice, and I'm hooked!! The chicken literally fell off the bone it's so tender. Seasoned to perfection.This is truly a hidden gem. Its inside of a convenient store. The ladies behind the counter were very nice. You can purchase a beer or wine inside, and sit at the tables inside. I will definitely be coming back here to try more of these delicious foods."

"Another lovely dinner to cap off a wild work week. I was hosting one of our consultants again and a group of us decided to decompress after two days of hard work. I try to experience new restaurants and cuisines each time so that my guest leaves with a favorable impression of NJ and we get to put money back into black owned businesses and other business of color. This time around one of my co workers recommended this Ethiopian spot and I was delighted to learn no one in my party had ever had Ethiopian food. This place is interesting because they serve Ethiopian and Dominican food. It actually worked out nicely because two of us got the Ethiopian and the others the Dominican and we shared bites. Overall the food was pretty good. The beef empanadas were stellar and I loved the two gomen I had. Portions are...restrained which is great because I wasnt too stuffed to walk as I usually am after eating Ethiopian. My friend did not enjoy her mofongo texture was strange to her. The person who had never had Ethiopian cleaned his plate. Service was outstanding and I'd go again just for that. Tables were good. I requested the 1/2 booth 1/2 chairs for my party and it was ready to go when we walked in. They do not take American Express so be aware. Free parking was available at the far end of the strip mall. In 2 weeks after the summer starts I bet parking will be a pipe dream. Until then enjoy!"

"Awful service! I placed an order through DoorDash, and after more than 30 minutes without any updates, I decided to call the restaurant to inquire about my order since there was no progress showing on the app. The woman I spoke with sounded rushed and didn’t really check on my order; she just told me to reach out to DoorDash for more information. DoorDash informed me that this restaurant only uses its own couriers, which means I can’t track my order through the app. This is very confusing! If that’s the case, the restaurant should really consider whether to continue using DoorDash or any third-party delivery service, as this lack of tracking creates significant uncertainty for customers. When we place an order, our payment is processed, but there’s no way to know the status of the delivery. This experience has been extremely disappointing. I strongly encourage them to rethink their delivery methods because this approach is not beneficial for customers at all."

"Food here is delicious, especially the mac cheese, sweet potato fries, and bbq ribs. I had three individual side dishes that I was charged for. However when my fries came back, they were combined in a large container that didn 't hold enough as a singlecontainer. Basically I was charged $8 for $4 fries. Disappointed in them for this. Update: After receiving a message concerningmy previous post from Island Thyme, I visited the restaurant on 4/25/22. As an older, African American, woman in her 60s, I knowwhen I 'm being disrespected. I wrote truthfully about the size of my previous order. It was of minor importance. However, thechef/manager/owner/ whatever his title), was a bit dismissive of me and the situation. He said, Im not going to argue with youabout it. He walked away after instructing the staff to give me an order of free fries. I wasn 't looking for free food. I stillpurchased fries mac n cheese (pictured). I wasn 't arguing. I was explaining what I had not received. Whether I spent $24+, forthe sides or over $90 on my previous visit, I deserve to be treated with respect as I give everyone respect. On a side note: thefood was delicious. It just isn 't delicious enough for me to continue to go to a place where I have had a negative experience."

"I just had the best rasta pasta I’ve ever tasted! They offer various types, but I went with the one featuring oxtails. It was loaded with oxtail, and even though it was a large portion, I finished it the same night! Their homemade ginger beer perfectly complemented the dish, though the ginger might be a bit strong for some people. The price ranged from $20 to $30, but trust me, it’s well worth it. Oxtail can be pricey on its own, so getting so much in this dish is definitely a great deal. I highly recommend it!"

"The lady who answers the phone is so rude and disrespectful. She claimed to be the owner when I asked to speak with one. She yelled at me when I was trying to simply change delivery addresses as the address they have on file is incorrect. She called me an “Idiota” which is ‘Idiot’ in her native language. She also was laughing when I told her Iam leaving a review and told me to do it. She was having multiple conversations on the phone while I was simply tryin to change the incorrect address. The experience was nerve wrecking. She told me to go to hell and she refused to to take my order, I have never experienced that before. When I called back to try to order she rudely yelled at me and hung up. I called back again and demanded to speak to her manager and she rudely told me to call another restaurant and insisted she was the owner. Worse customer service ever. This place needs a whole new staff. I will NEVERRRRR ORDER FROM HERE!"

"I've been coming here for years, but honestly, the quality has declined. They now charge for even the smallest things, like sauce for your rice or jerk sauce for the jerk chicken—it's almost amusing! I ordered takeout and they forgot to include utensils. When I called to let them know, they told me I didn't ask for them. Since when do I need to specifically request utensils for takeout? It seems like basic courtesy to include them, regardless. This feels like a greedy move on their part. I wouldn't be sharing this if they hadn't been rude when I called. The food is okay, but definitely overpriced. They also no longer include plantains in your meal because that's now an extra charge. Do yourself a favor and choose another place to eat."

"I now remember why I chose not to return to this restaurant. I was in the plaza near the salon suites and was craving some food, so I decided to have lunch here. I ordered the $10 lunch special which included curry chicken, collard greens, and rice and peas. I was disappointed to find that the food lacked any authentic Jamaican or Caribbean flavor. The collard greens were excessively salty, the rice and peas didn't have enough coconut milk cooked in, and the curry chicken had no discernible curry taste. I would not recommend this restaurant and I will not be returning."
