"As a native Alaskan, I approach any establishment claiming to capture the essence of my home state with a bit of skepticism. Unfortunately, the service at this bakery did not leave me impressed, regardless of where you hail from. Take my attempt to order an iced latte, for example. Instead, I was served a steaming hot beverage with hazelnut syrup, accompanied by a separate cup of ice. It seemed that a request for cold coffee with any flavor was simply too much to ask, as there was no effort to remake the drink. Feeling let down, I poured the hazelnut latte over the ice, only to watch it turn into a watery shadow of what it should have been. Management, if brewing coffee presents a challenge, perhaps it’s best to leave it off the menu, especially in a city like Seattle. There was, however, a highlight in my visit: while the Danish ($4.50) was difficult to enjoy alongside my diluted drink, the Double Chocolate Brownie ($4) was a delightful treat that silenced me long enough to forget about my coffee woes. The Alaska Sourdough Bakery offers a peek into the Last Frontier, but unfortunately, it resembles more of a confusing experience than a true representation. With a touch of underlying tension and an unclear approach to coffee-making, I suggest proceeding with caution. It may very well be a nice spot; just steer clear of the coffee, and you’ll probably have a decent time."
