"After arriving at Newark Airport around lunchtime, we decided to visit the nearby historic Ironbound District for some Portuguese food. Based on the reviews, we decided to try Sabor Unido and we 're really glad we did. The food, service and the warm, friendly, family vibe were all fantastic. We enjoyed grilled sea bass and squid, both of which were excellent and perfectly prepared as were our sides of mashed potatoes, sautéed mushrooms, and fried yucca! Our server, Letitia, was lovely and professional, and we had the chance to chat for a few minutes with the owners, who treated us like regulars. Just an all around great experience! We will definitely be back the next time we 're in town. Do yourself a favor and visit this restaurant ASAP!!!"

"Took the family for a night out in Astoria and was in the mood for Brazilian food. Found this nice restaurant on Yelp and decided to take a chance. We chose to sit outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and proceeded to order some food. My Picanha was served on a cast-iron skillet and it was outstanding (would definitely order again)! Everyone else ordered something different and enjoyed their food. The overall consensus was the black beans were a little salty but everything was great, including the atmosphere and the waiter. Note that although the kids entrees are a little pricy compared to chain restaurants, the portions delivered would satisfy most adults! This restaurant comes highly recommended!"

"Had reservations; got there a little early. Host /waiter wanted to put us at a small high-top. We said that we would wait for a booth or table to open up. No Savignon Blanc. No Cabernet Savignon. Tried the Merlot. Awful. Tried a Coke Zero. Awful; but dealt with it; as I didn’t want to be a real pain. Waiter took our orders, a Caesar salad to split; two entrees. The salad was very good. Problem was that we had to ask three people where it was; and why it wasn’t delivered to us. Two bites into the salad, dinner arrives. The cod was good; though it was swimming in olive oil. The skirt steak was pretty good. Black beans were very garlicky, basically inedible. The place seems to try-management, at least. I don’t know what jobs the employees held; but all seemed more experienced than our waiter, who seemed to have arrived in the US the day before. The staff was very pleasant in what seemed to be a frustrating night for all of them. Maybe they need to be better organized; the waiter better trained, I don’t know. We had a 20% off coupon, so that helped lessen the disappointment. I really cannot see heading back there since there are so many good restaurants which make dining a pleasure, rather than a rat race."

"Took my family here for Father’s Day lunch. The atmosphere was a bit lacking, the staff seemed preoccupied and not too engaging. The food was decent but my steak was hardly warm when delivered to our table. Favela Grill has potential to become a great and lively Brazilian Steakhouse, but fell short of that mark during my visit. For the price I’d recommend else where for the time being."

"After continuously passing by and having visited other Brazilian restaurants nearby, I finally decided to stop in. Here is my review: Customer Service: The waitress was very friendly and kind throughout the whole encounter. So I gave 2 stars for her but really she gets 5. The food: BLAND! Not what I expected but the rice had no flavor, the chicken not much either. The portion was ok. I ordered a Tres- Leches cake that didn’t taste like it. It didn’t have the good spongy cake consistency to it and there was hardly any milk. It wasn’t good! The Price: The $18 I paid for the meal wasn’t worth it! The slice of cake was almost $6! Wow! You’re better off going to Banana Brazil and getting a slice there that taste good for less than $6 and bigger slice too! A can of soda for $2.50???? In the end, as stated, good customer service but the quality of the food and price didn’t do it for me."

"Live male singer in English Spanish, Beautiful voice. Mixure of songs from different decades. I Ordered a number# 3 which included multiple meats on 3 large metal skewers, banana cake with steaming thick caramel topped it off. Flan desert of course very tasty. I noticed no seasons on the tables they were not needed. Dinner 3 people 4 liquor drinks $195. Tip $24. Highly RECONDMEND"

"I've been hesitant to write a review for over a year because I truly enjoy the food here, but today was the breaking point. The only issue at this restaurant is Barbara, the woman who prepares the to-go platters. She is consistently extremely rude, but I’ve overlooked it because I love the food. Today, however, when the restaurant was busy and I understand that circumstances can be tough, I had to wait for her to make my order. When she finally arrived, I was chatting with an old friend, and she called me over in a very unpleasant tone, raising her voice. This made me uncomfortable and embarrassed in front of a full restaurant. As a regular customer who picks up food here every week, I expect to be treated with more respect. I hope the owners address this issue, or my family and I will no longer return!"
