"Most nearby Thai restaurants are closed on Sundays, so this was a pleasant surprise that they open on a Sunday. We ordered by phone without even looking at the menu, and the staff knew what the dishes we asked are. All came down to $60+, on the expensive side but it 's fine we are trying for the first time. Said the order ready in 15 min which is pretty fast compared to others. The interior was fancier than many other Thai because it has a bar. But that also gives you an idea that the food is more tailored for American taste buds. Pad Thai Tofu there 's a lack of the Pad Thai strong fermentation flavor, so while it probably appeases the general public, it doesn 't have that unique flavor that so many can 't stand. It 's more like tomato ketchup noodles, which is delicious in itself, but just not what I think is a good pad thai. Severely lacking the sour profile. Additional missing ingredients is bean sprouts! Instead they have red and white chopped cabbage. Again, while pretty delicious, it 's just lacks the authentic flavor , even tho the dish itself is not authentic by any means. Tofu is fried and just OK. They still had the crushed peanuts so that 's good. My husband likes this better than the more authentic version. Pad kee mao beef this was really really disappointing. While it 's good that it 's not spicy (I 've never had a pad kee mao that 's not spicy... because our kids can eat it, the flavor is nothing like pad kee mao. Just salty, particularly the eggs. Flavor of basil is very very muted and limited. Beef cuts are tough to chew. They didn 't give a lot of noodles but gave a lot of veggies, which is great!! But the veggies are like not authentic to Thai food, it 's just mixed Asian stir fry veggies like mini corn and water chestnut. Along with bell peppers. Very interesting and weird combo. I like the veggie component, it 's just not what I could consider pad kee mao. Probably wouldn 't order again. Completely missing the taste profile. Lad nar beef this wasn 't bad, but they used Chinese broccoli instead? Beef is not coated or tenderized so it 's tough to eat. Sauce is OK, but lack the sweetness. Just very muted Thai flavors to appease the general public. If you are looking for strong Thai flavors, this place is not it. The food itself is still tasty. This one is not as weird as pad kee mao. Probably would order again for the kids. Fish cake appetizer this imo was done better than other places, I liked how fluffy and fried it is, it 's much softer than other places. Loved the spices and herby tastes, which is similar to others. Probably sourced from the same place so it generally tastes similar. The dipping sauce has cucumber and crushed peanuts like other places. A bit more syrupy than other places but tastes the same. Thai iced tea this one I think it 's done better than other more traditional Thai places. I liked the distinction of the tea flavor at the bottom and the milk up top. It doesn 't taste like premade mix like other places even if they used the same method. I can actually taste the tea here. Also love the handle and design of the carry out version. Would order again! Overall I think it 's a pretty OK place for Thai food. Something fast and edible, and fancier than others. The portion size is equal or smaller than other places. I think I might reserve this place as a second option for Sunday cravings of Thai food."

"Had a hankering for some Thai food today and decided to take out from Gin Thai Brasserie. I ordered the Pad See Ew, Low Carb Pad Thai, Steak Bites, Fresh Rolls and a Thai Iced Tea. Although we didn 't dine in, the restaurant was nice and clean. It 's on the small side, so seating could be limited around dinner time. The Fresh Roll (2pc) was filled with lots of fresh shredded veggies and a decent piece of tofu. It comes with peanut dipping sauce. They were very good and lived up to its name. All the reviews I read raved about the steak bites, so I had to try them... and I wasn 't impressed. It 's thinly sliced 'marinated ' beef, served with a citrus/chili dipping sauce. My wife and I both agree that what it lacked, was ANY flavor. Very bland. I wouldn 't order it again. My wife had the 'low carb ' Pad Thai. I didn 't have any, but she liked it and said she 'd order it again. Being low carb, there is only a very small amount of noodles, the rest of the 'bulk ' was made up of shredded veggies like cabbage, carrots and bean sprouts. Cooked like traditional Pad Thai in a familiar tasting sauce. She got it with chicken for an extra buck and there was a lot of it. I had the Pad See Ew. This is one of my favorite Thai dishes and GTB 's iteration was just as good as any other reputable Thai restaurant. Rice noodles, veggies and chicken, stir fried in a dark, sweet soy sauce. It was really good. I also had the Thai Iced Tea which, let 's be real only needed to do one thing, and that 's taste like Thai Iced Tea. It did. It was good sweet, creamy and tea y. Overall, with the exception of the disappointing steak bites, my family and I will eat at GTB again. The flavors are good and the ingredients taste fresh. The price per dish is similar to other Thai restaurants in the area and I was more than satisfied with size of all the portions. A solid 4 !"

"I rarely will post about a bad experience in a restaurant because we worked in the business and understand it could just be a bad day... I have to share a horrible experience with Thai Town in South Elgin. We wanted to try something new and trust me we will not go that route again. Called the order in for pick up and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes, went it took another 35 minutes waiting. We ordered 2 pad Thai meals, sesame chicken meal and an order of calamari. While I was there the kids wanted the soda with the tapioca which I thought would be maybe a few dollars 5.00 a piece). I was handed a tiny bag and pulled up a screen to tip her 9.00 or more on the meal I was picking up, they would deliver for 6.00. We are all for tipping but really... I did tip 3.00 like a fool.. The drinks the kids threw out because they said it tasted like bleach. Charged 9.95 we were given literally 8 calamari. They told my son when he questioned why it was so small that calamari is expensive??? We came home and I was just so disgusted and showed my husband so he called the owner got on the phone and he explained to her that he wanted half our money back because it was so bad. She said bring it all back and we said fine we will be right there it was terrible). The son called before we left screaming "How dare you talk to my mother that way and my husband said I was very nice to your mother but I am very very dissatisfied with your service and food. The son said keep the food and fight your bank, I will not give you back your money!!! They said they have to feed their family and could not give a refund to us and my husband said he was simply trying to feed his family and it was unacceptable food and service. The 8 calamari were literately rubber bands dipped in breading served with a watered down sweet and sour sauce..... Longest post I have ever written... Wish I would have read the Yelp and Google Reviews First!!!! Pictures will not post but will upload if I can so you can decide for yourself.."

"tourist travel from nyc to cali for the week with a family of nine (5 adults and 4 children). found this restaurant on open table. the restaurant was there at 8:15 clock, not only three couples busy. we were immediately greeted and sitting, but got no service for 30 minutes. in the meantime, a party of six was so frustrated that they left after complaining on the waiter. After waiting for 30 minutes, we flew the busboy and asked someone to take our drinks orders. at this point we have decided to order everything that the long waiting period has given. the drinks we came to get two completely different bottles of wine than on the drink menu, the bottles were opened before we had a chance to see them. there was no explanation that the weepings we ordered were not available. the apps were quite terrible. the huhn satay was like eating rubber. the fresh roll was nothing like a spring roll. it was like an salad packed in rice paper. the net was good, I would skip the apps and go straight to the net. after compiling over the apps agreed the waiter to remove the fresh rolls from our bill, but refused to remove the chickens'satai. the owner has made the satay personal and not complicated. Overall, I would say that the main thing was good, but the bad customer service had a lasting impression and from this reason we would never return this restaurant to other traveling or recommend."
