"On my recent visit, I ordered #2 from the menu, which includes half a chicken served with rice and maduros (fried sweet plantains). I requested no beans, so I had the option to add either more rice or more maduros—I chose to add more maduros. This was truly one of the best roasted chickens I've had in the USA, and as someone who grew up in the Dominican Republic, I know how challenging it can be to find quality homemade roast chicken.
The chicken was perfectly roasted, with a deliciously glazed skin. Both the white and dark meat were incredibly tender and flavorful. The portion of rice was generous and tasted just like something my mom or an aunt would make at home. The maduros were spot on as well; they are sweet plantains that are fried only once, and "maduros" means "ripe" in Spanish. They can be enjoyed as a side dish or as an appetizer.
The service was friendly, and the ordering process involved going to the counter to place your order, pay, and then wait for your number to be called to pick up your food. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and I highly recommend La Granja for anyone craving authentic Latin cuisine."
